Hi all!
I'm currently a graduate from the UK with a law undergraduate degree. I'm planning on doing my masters next year, a LLM - masters in Law in Canada. Having done a bit of research I have read that obviously doing a masters in Canada does not guarantee you a job straight afterwards. Although this does depend on your degree subject.. What I have heard about law in particular is that it is very difficult in gaining opportunities after completing your masters.
Anyway I really don't enjoy being in the U.K, and I have always wanted to live in Canada and since the legal system is somewhat similar to the U.K.. I just wanted to find out from anyone or any UK graduates on their move to Canadan and what the opportunities are like after studying your masters.

Sorry If I sound a bit ignorant about all this, but would really appreciate some information about studying a masters degree in law in canada, and its prospects and also how the job market is for international students/graduates.

Thank you
Melissa

Just a question. Why don't you plan on working in the UK for a number of years when done with your undergrad?

I was hoping to work for a year and a half to build up my CV and then do my masters in Canada. Currently the job market in the legal field is very difficult unless you further it doing an LPC for example and gaining a training contract. But wanted to find out how the prospects are over there first to see if doing my masters abroad is worth it.

I am not a law student myself. But, in my opinion you should look at the law student forums in canada. Have you tried lawstudents.ca ?

They seem to be pretty legit and have a high traffic content. You might get a better answer there.
