I have applied to sponsor my wife, I have been approved as a sponsor and she has entered Canada on a TRV. She was given 6 months, but I see application processing times for Permanent Residence at the applicable visa office can be from 7-15 months. How difficult is it to apply for an extension at the end of the 6 months? We have a 10 month old son, who is now in Canada and we can't bare the thought of having to be apart again for 6+ months.

Thank You

Hey there I'm new here and I am still gathering info for how this works, but if you go check out the family class section of this forum and ask the same thing your{ll get great answers with links. But basically what I understand is if you apply inland she can stay in limbo in canada throughout the PR process, you have no idea how lucky you are to get a vistor visa. Its a hard visa to get with PR application

Anyway check out the family class section its where you will get answers, and to be honest you shouldn{t have to be apart now until the decison for pr is made!

Take care and good luck

That's great that your wife was approved for a TRV while in process for her PR. We are in a similar situation. What documents did you provide to get the TRV approved? Did you write any letters explaining your situation?

Thanks

Hi my husband and I are in the same situation right now.
We are planning on applying soon.
We do plan on sending a cover letter explaining our situation.
Have you applied already? Please share your experience.
Thanks :)

We were successful getting a TRV for my wife while the PR application is in process. We wrote a cover letter explaining the situation, had bank statements showing assets in her country, had a letter from her work verifying she was taking a leave to come to Canada as a tourist. We also had return plane tickets purchased, and included a little itinerary of what she would do while visiting Canada. We gave a lot of details and were very clear about why she wanted to come as a tourist. She will be arriving with the TRV just in time for the holidays! I can't wait!

Hello there,

Im also on the same situation. We are planning to apply for trv. Do we have to apply for trv on the same visa office where we are processing the sponsorship? If i change my address, is it possible to apply on the visa office of the place i am currently residing?
