In which case your friend is out of luck then although still interesting that immigration as just using an email address as the cross reference unless the posted email copy has the detail redacted. .
Really incredible!

Really incredible!
Whats incredible ? The fact that CIC have cancelled a visa based on an email address and a post in a public forum in which case I would agree incredible?

This thread has been going for a couple of weeks now in multiple sections of this forum and many replies have implied that perhaps this is some sort of phishing scam given apart from anything else the email address that sent this cancellation does not map to the CIC email address on the Riyadh site for Canada immigration.

https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/tourist-visa-issued-cancelled.543735/

The posted copy of the email shows no detail other than the email address of the friend so is hard to believe that CIC cancels visas based just on an email address as opposed to passport/ visa reference numbers which they would need to do given who uses an email address to enter a country.

A number of replies have queried whether any other detail was included in the email other than just email address but so far no confirmation from the OP. Plus is the family name of the friend actually Sheikh given the email was addressed as Dear Mr Sheikh ?

Plus does anyone really think that CIC has resources to randomly scan forums and social media to randomly cancel visas, unless there is more to this than we all here know that kicked off a specific investigation of this friend.

Advice was given to instead of replying to the questionable email address use the official web form on the CIC Riyadh website to see what they say about the friends visa status.

Ultimately though there was 10 days to sort it out from the original email Jan 24 hence seems too late now to get a positive outcome if the cancellation is genuine. Nothing to lose now apart from the fee to either use the official web form to query status or apply again or consult an immigration lawyer to resolve

Yeah incredible that the visa can be cancelled based off of an unverified post.

Ok we are on same page hence all the replies that still question whether this is all real or some elaborate scam / phishing attempt especially as the OP has not said if any info such as passport numbers or visa numbers were included in the original email. All information that CIC would normally include in such a communication not just an email address. CIC would possibly include some sort of case number to be quoted in any reply as well if not passport/visa numbers.

This is the second time in less than one week that two entire threads on this topic, in the Visitors section - and which had a number of pertinent, logical replies - has been relegated to the virtual black hole. Deleted. Gone o_O

On the possible phishing email? Or the affinity of the thread in Visitors section for the virtual black hole?
:Dguess that sums it up. I don't know why i have a niggling feeling that the email is legit. Or the phisher is really really convincing.

My friend got this email can any body answer this genuine or fake

Subject: Cancellation of your Temporary Resident Visa for Canada
To: KAMRANOORSHEIKH@gmail.com

Dear Mr. Sheikh,

Based on information found during an open source search, I have determined that you may not meet the requirements for a temporary resident. As such, your visa has been cancelled. You should not attempt to travel with this visa.

You applied for a visa in 2014 to travel to Canada for tourism. In August 2017, you indicated on www.canadavisa.com that you wish to apply for asylum in Canada. Foreign nationals who wish to remain permanently in Canada must apply for a permanent resident visa. Based on this information, I am not satisfied that you would be an genuine temporary resident who would depart Canada at the end of an authorized stay, and am therefore not satisfied that you meet the requirements for a Temporary Resident Visa.
I would like to give you an opportunity to respond to the concerns I have raised above. Please reply to this email within 10 days. If we do not receive a reply, the decision to cancel your visa will stand.

THIS EMAIL IS FAKE

A ) Visa refusals are given via Letter (not email)

B ) Correct email is riyadh.visa@international.gc.ca . You have posted email with spelling mistake as well as punctuation mark ( See IRCC's official website -> https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/contact-ircc/offices/international-visa-offices/riyadh.html )

C) Canadian Immigration do not refuse visas solely based on information posted by any user in open domain. Any user can create any username and post information while impersonating anyone. Therefore, they don't refuse applicants as such.
