Hello All,

I am intending to apply for TRV of my wife at the end of April 2015. Below is the detail of my current situation.

1. I am currently pursuing my PhD here in Nova Scotia and my 1st semester is going to end soon.
2. I did not apply for TRV of my wife when i applied for my study permit back in 2014 to avoid any bad situation regarding approval of my study permit.
3. My wife is currently doing job there in Pakistan and having experience of almost 1.5 years.
4. Regarding finance, we have a joint account of 2 million in Pakistan (bank statement of more than six months) and here in Canada i have $5000 in my own account.
5. She never went outside Pakistan so no travel history.
6. Regarding home ties, we only have the point of her job. No property on her name.

I want to apply for her TRV with option of multiple entry and her TRV must be of same length as my study permit. Does she need medical? And how can I cover the issue of ties? Travel history cannot be improved.
.
Guidance will be appreciated.

Are your in-laws still living in Pakistan? If so, she can provide more information on family ties.

I think the key point in your application will be proving her ties back home. Since you guys are married, CIC will be worried that she will just stay in Canada.
Include anything you can think of that she has back home in Pakistan:

Employment (provide letter from employer allowing time off and guaranteed job upon return)
Property ownership like house or land (if not, provide a lease with landlord or something of that nature)
Any future plans or appointments in Pakistan that she cannot miss
Proof of family ties
Community engagements like committees or charity work

Hope this helps :)

Hi Usman, I was in a similar situation back in 2009 i.e. PhD student at U Waterloo with $6 K in CA account and approx 4-5 mil in PKR account. I applied a TRV for my wife which was approved very easily. Make sure you add an employment letter for your wife, if possible.

In case you are on a scholarship then also get the letter from the sponsoring organisation and attach it to your wife's application. If you are getting funding from Uni then your department and graduate school will be contributing to your scholarship get the letter from both of them.
