Hi everyone!

My boyfriend, from the Philippines, is planning to apply for a Visitor Visa. Here’s his profile;

* He works as an Accounting Staff in the Philippines
* Owns no property; except for his motor vehicle under his name
* Has $3500 in his Bank Account, and has a credit card in good standing
* No family in Canada. In Philippines, it’s only him & his mom.
* He plans to request for a 10-day visit here in Calgary

My questions are:

What are his chances for getting an approval?
Is it possible if my mom will be the one to give him an invitation letter, as a family friend? My mom is a Permanent Resident.

Main requirements for applying for a TRV are the following
· you can convince an immigration officer that you have ties—such as a job, home, financial assets or family—that will take you back to your home country
> JOB - If his salary is high and has been with the same company for a long time then good. if not, It might a reason for refusal like lack of employment prospect or current employment situation
> FINANCIAL ASSETS - No property and the current amount on his bank is not enough
> FAMILY - A bit tricky as he is Single

· you can convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit
> He might fail with this as I stated the reasons above. The visa officer might think he would stay in Canada as there is more opportunity for him there than in his home country.

· you have enough money for your stay (funds to carry out your stated purpose in going to Canada)
> Even if he will only stay for 10 days. Having $3500 in the bank is not enough as airfare can cost from $1,000 up

Your boyfriend's real purpose of visit might be questioned. As he is not directly related to your mom. You can read a lot of threads, if Siblings and Parents were refused, what more for just a family friend?

If you say that the purpose of travel is Tourism
Is your boyfriend well traveled? If a person has not traveled anywhere outside of their home country before, they might be refused a visa.
It would help if they previously acquired a visa from US, UK and Australia.
