I (USA Citizen) committed two hybrid offenses in 2008 [DUI + another charge]. I was sentenced to probation and license loss for a year. I finished all the conditions of my sentencing in 2010.
I'd like to apply for CR or a TRP but I don't have a reason to go to Canada today. I'm trying to plan ahead so that if I decide to vacation somewhere either in Canada or with a stop in Canada I don't have any issues with a short timeframe.
It appears in either the case of applying for TRP or CR that I need to have a reason for going to Canada. Would not having any trips booked be an issue?
I could also apply on an informational only basis but that seems risky as the border agent may not agree with the informational only agent's assessment?
