I had planned flight in mid March (17 march actually) but read news of covid19 closing canadian borders... so did not fly as too risky with chidlren. I had tried contact canada immigration (ircc) to get extension on my may deadline...

I am in same boat (situation ) as you. I have raised Case specific enquiry but no answer for 5 weeks now... Did you raise Case specified enquiry by the webform to ask for extension or explain you situation?

Also, do you consider to go there and stuck quarantine for 14 days after soft land (this means you land to get PR card, go around visit a bit, but not settle for good). I not want to settle but soft land first, but I not want to risk health (if you read covid 1 9 blogs of vicitms, you will be so frighten to catch it as even mild symptoms are worse than worse flu!).

Like you, I think I must go, but I not want risk it. So I try to message them first to ask extension and explain it is crazy to expect applycants to travel (lots of mony) and stay quarantine (14 days also cost so much!).
I've not raised a case specific enquiry because what I've read online regarding the guidelines sounds fairly clearcut. What I'm most unsure about is whether my flight will still exist.

I'm lucky in the sense I don't have other complications - I have a job lined up and they've assured me it's still going to be there regardless of how COVID plays out. When I arrive I can isolate with my wife which won't be a problem.

Unfortunately that would be considered personal choice. The cases weren’t really significant in Canada and that time and flights were operating normally in Canada. Others were In a similar position as you are and were told twice that they had the ability to fly when they asked for an extension. Ar this point all you can do is ask for an exception and see what happens.

That is good. If you really need to enter into canada, I heard only from US can easily enter

I agree it is personal choice and would have hope that immigration canada can also understand our view points as we travel so far and long and risk ourselves and then need to quarantine for 14 days and then go back to our first homes and then quarantine for another 14 days. I not sure who had 28 day off from work but not me (I still working).

you’ll have to wait and see. Technically you could have arrived at the airport and taken a return flight that same day without leaving the airport. Nobody knows how forgiving CIC will be in cases like yours.

Just to share some up dates as we not yet moved to Canada. Even we contact IRCc to let them know we can move, they no answer. I chase them a few times and no reply. Yes, covid19 is excuse to be slower these days, but is not excuse to ignore people who need helped. I used webform to submit mesages but no reply four weeks.

I not sure where I read but it says they will prioritize those who are sure to immigrate in 1 go but seems only word but no real truth because I did tell them we want to move for good.

Due to the pandemic, your moving to Canada became non essential. They are curently discouraging any non essential travel.

Just also mention that I understand they discourage from coming to Canada as risk is not good. It is right. But they should state clearly and use formal communicate in IRCC website because many of us will chase them as my expactation is that if I can move (as per their condition), then do it as I make arrangement safe and follow orders. They should more open and direct as oppose mislead or delay applycants.
