Travelling to Canada to renew PR card

My PR card is expiring in Mar 2023. However, I'm moving out of Canada next month for a 3 year work assignment. I would not be able to apply for PR renewal before I leave because it will not be within the 9 month expiry period.
Will I be able to make a short trip to Canada in June 2022, and apply for the PR card from a hotel or Friends address, and mail it to my friend?

Yes you can apply while visiting Canada. You will likely be asked to pick up your new PR card in person.

Not always. Sometimes IRCC does in fact make the PR appear in person to get their renewed PR Card; just search these forums.

In general if the person is living abroad they must pick it up in person. During the pick-up the interviewer will usually verify if you continue to meet your RO.
