Dear friends,

I am getting married on 14th Feb in New Delhi India. We have already completed our forms and collected documents except wedding pictures and marriage certificate. My wife has TRV and will travel with me to Canada. If questioned by CBSA on arrival, we will show them our application package including my spouse's return ticket and Fee Payment Receipt for Outland application.

Our plan is to submit our package within one week of our arrival in Canada.

What other precautions we need to take for her hassle-free entry into Canada? Hope CBSA will not create a fuss if we tell them the truth.

Can any one share his/her experience please.

Thanks..

Be clear that she is just visiting Canada and will leave when her visa is up.
She should bring proof she will return to India - at the very least, a return ticket with a date.
You can prepare proof you will be supporting her during her visit.

Congratulations on your wedding ! :)
There will be 2 questions : purpose of visit and duration of stay. She can say you guys are just married and visiting you. Plan is to stay for 4-5 months and file PR application and tour some places in summer and then return to India and wait out the PR processing.

You may carry PR documents , proof of funds, marriage certificate, her proof of job if any. Return ticket is not required. You can print out an itinerary from any website for free.

You have the option of doing an extension at the end of 6 months.
There is no need for any tension. Do not lie to the officer for any reason.

And one thing to remember before filing PR is to check for latest version of forms in cic website since you have completed ur forms well in advance.

all the Best ! And share your experience here on arrival !

Thank you "innosense" and "canadianwoman" for your comments and suggestions.

So, I returned to Canada today after getting married in India and my wife has accompanied me on TRV. She was asked about the purpose and duration of visit. She gave the officer truthful answer and showed her return ticket, travel insurance document and CIC fee receipt. She got full 6 months stay and officer told her that if she wanted she can apply to CIC for further extension. The entry into Canada was very smooth, no questions were asked regarding jewelry and gifts she was carrying either.

I am going to courier the package tomorrow.

Good night !!!

I'm glad everything went well. And thanks for reporting what happened!

Congratulations !!

Quick question - what was the return ticket timing, 2 months or 4 or 6?
What was the reason you gave for her visit?
Also did they check the luggage and stuff or asked any questions.to your wife separately?

Thanks

What was the reason you gave for her visit? Truthfully said that we got married and she was visiting me and her other relatives in Canada.Told them that we were applying as outland applicant for PR. Offered to show our file which he was not interested in seeing. In the end officer gave us a tip to extend the TRV within Canada if we would be intersted,
Also did they check the luggage and stuff or asked any questions.to your wife separately? No

Thanks

Thanks a lot !

Hope I can have similar experience at the border :)

Congratulations and have a happy married life !

Regards
Rahul
