Hi everyone! I Am about to exit Canada to get landed and will be staying in my country and come back(Canada) before my visa expires..my question is, am I allowed to travel to another country for a few days?would it cause me any trouble? Please I need someone from the forum to enlighten me..It would be very much appreciated..

So if I understand you correctly, you will leave Canada, go to your own home country and then go to a different country and then come back to Canada, where you will become a permanent resident?

If that's the case, then you won't have any problem with respect to Canada. The counterfoil (if you are not visa exempt) authorizes you to travel to Canada; I've never heard of one being restricted to travel from a specific country.

Or perhaps you mean that you will flag pole and become a permanent resident of Canada, then fly to your home country for a visit, travel to another country and then travel back to Canada. In THAT case, if you are visa exempt you can show your COPR to the border officer and that will allow him to confirm your PR status, at which point you will be allowed to enter Canada. If you are not visa exempt, you would need to obtain a PR travel document from the Canadian embassy/consulate/high commission in your home country. This would allow you to fly back to Canada. Commercial carriers will not transport you to Canada if they do not know you will be permitted to enter - otherwise they are fined and responsible for your return transportation. The border officers have much greater discretion, and ENF 4 even describes how to verify you are a PR without any documentation at all.

Good luck. Congratulations on becoming a PR.
