Traveling to the states and back vis car

I was told that the PR card was not needed if we wanted to go to the states and come back as long as we are driving. Has anyone tried this. I am from a country that needs a Visa to enter canada - I know am a PR but waiting for my card.

As a canadian PR holder you are not allowed to enter the U.S. without a Visa. This exemption only applies to canadian citizens that wish to enter the U.S. they do not require a visa just as u.s. citizens who travel to canada are also visa exempt.

You must apply for a visa either by internet or the US consulate in Canada for a visa.And since June 2008 a Canadian passport is also required.Since you o not have this you need the Visa.
