Good Afternoon everyone!!.....I will be sponsoring my husband(hes American) and we plan on doing it outland that way he can still work during the process...my question is, will he still be able to cross the border to come and see me every weekend like he does now(we live in border towns) while the application is being processed? ive heard no, and heard yes as long as he has paper work to prove that he has ties to the US...any comments would be appreciated :)

He is visa-exempt, and from what you say the border officers are already used to him going back and forth. At all times he should have some evidence of his ties to the US with him, additionally when you file the application he can have copies of the receipt for the fees and a copy of your approval to sponsor him once received.

I'll be visiting my husband for Christmas/New Year's this year. We live far so the border guards aren't used to me, and the first time I visited him in Edmonton the customs people didn't think I'd go back and sent me through immigration (this was before we were even engaged! though they did let me through in the end)

Am I likely to have trouble when I go up this winter? I'll have a print of my itinerary with the return ticket on it, of course, and I can bring a print of our receipt and a copy of my lease as well.

On a related note, I'm from Florida. Am I going to freeze to death? :p

Ask your employers for letters of employments, have credit cards receipt, bank statement that demonstrate where you spend most of your money, pay slips etc... that kind of stuff.

I was stopped at the border going into the US once for these exact same reasons, and this is what the agent suggested I kept on me when crossing, so I could help them do their job better.

They also searched my car. before being all nice to me and making this suggestion, he implied I was maybe slowly moving all my things across to stay there, so don't bring things across the borders, that will make it look like you are moving over I guess. Keep it to what a normal person needs for the amount of time you will be there.
