I am a Canadian PR working temporally in US since last year.
I lived in Canada for five years after obtaining my PR status, therefore I'm not in risk of loosing my status for a couple of years more if I stay out of the Country. I applied for Citizenship while I was in Canada and I am expecting a response by the end of 2013.
My PR card expires in May 2013 - a month for now and I understand that I cannot renew my PR card if I am outside Canada.
If I travel to Canada before my PR expires, can I apply to renew my PR card when I'm there even if I have to leave the country again after that?
Is there a rule about the days you have to stay in Canada after you apply for a PR card?
My concern is not having a valid PR card if I have to go back to Canada, e.g., if I am granted the Citizenship and I have to take the test and oath. A travel document takes some days to be processed and my passport requires a visa to enter Canada.
Your advice on this matter will be appreciated.
Thank you.
