Travel out and Come in on Different passports

I am booked on a Tour to the Middle east in November 2018, but the tour Operator wants all passport details by 20 September 2018.
I have applied for citizenship in October 2017 and am DM from 4 April 2018; don't see me getting canadian passport in time !
Could I travel out on my original country's passport, after having got the Visa and then return on Canadian passport end November?

If the country you are leaving from has exit control, you will have to use the same passport that was used to enter the country. But once you arrive in Canada, you can use your Canadian passport to enter.

Thank you; as I will be leaving(exit) from Toronto; am assuming there is No exit control.
When I reach Oman I will use my country's passport with oman visa for in/out. By November at the least i expect to have canadian passport since will be past one year since I applied for citizenship,

What country passport you have? Does your country allow using passport if you acquire Canada passport?

Some countries do not allow people that become citizens of other countries to keep their original citizenship, and some other countries don't allow people that become citizens of other nations to hold their country of origin's passport.

If that is the case for you, then it would be illegal to use your old passport while holding a Canadian passport. Having said that, it is unlikely your country of origin will find out, but if you are not allowed to hold your country of origin's passport and you do, you are technically misrepresenting yourself to a foreign border officer when entering another country, which in itself is not a good idea at all.

Wow ! This post/reply now makes it crystal clear. I have no hesitation after this, deciding, using my original passport is definitely not a good idea, would feel guilty too all throughout the Tour.
This Citizenship process has taken much longer than i had expected and hence the probe into different avenues.

They wont know at the time you use it, but later they can know. In case of India, if you need a lifelong visa, you are required to surrender Indian passport first. When you surrender, they will know when and how many times you have used Indian passport and they will fine you accordingly. Its around $300 per illegitimate use after the grace period.

So if your home country allows your free entry/exit with Canadian passport, then you should be all good. If I were you, I would still follow the process and not try to use home country passport if possible. In principle, your home country passport maybe invalid even if the date doesnt say so. Keyword is maybe because some countries do allow two legit passports. But, you can take your decisions based on what you seem fit.

Thank you so much for putting things in very clear perspective. I have decided now to wait and keep waiting no matter the Stress. Surprised some countries insist on surrendering their passports under punishment with a fine. I would have liked to keep my old passport for memory-sake; various travels in years gone by but well those are country-specific rules, to be adhered to.

Actually, some countries allow multiple passports and even more than 2. I personally have 4 valid passports from my country as it's one of those countries that allows as many passports as you want.
