Hi everyone,
So I just became a permanent resident a couple of days ago but now I'm going to be traveling to Germany and Greece starting Sunday and my card won't arrive for another 6 weeks.
So from the things I've read it seems highly unlikely I'll be let into the plane to come back to Canada seeing that I can't get an eTA or have anything else to show.
I checked with the visa office in Germany and they told me they need 2-4 weeks to process it which is pretty long, especially because I'm only staying 2 weeks in each country. Most of all tho I can't really give up my passport for the whole trip as I need that to fly inside Europe and get rental cars etc.
Does anyone have experience with how long that usually takes?
Also do the new PR cards usually take as long they say?
So as far as I can see the only options are:
- wait for PR card and have someone send it to me
- apply for PRTD and try to get around without a passport and hope it's done in time for my return
- fly to the US and cross the border by car
Do you guys have any other ideas or comments? Does anyone ever get to fly without having the eTA checked?
I have a German passport btw.
Thanks a lot!
Cheers
