Hey all,
I'm currently in a bit of a confusing situation here. I've been on a PGWP for the past 3 years which will be expiring soon on July the 28th. I've applied for a degree in a university and was only accepted recently and am currently waiting for a PAL to be issued to me. The issue is even if I get my PAL and submit my study permit application while in Canada, my PGWP states I will have to leave Canada when my work permit expires. Will I be able to exit Canada and return as a visitor whilst waiting for my application for a study permit? Or am I able to stay whilst waiting for my study permit application to be processed.

Thank you!

edit: I've had a study permit in the past but has long since expired since I started working. In addition my TRV is still valid for a few years.

You change status to visitor prior to the 28th. If study permit is refused then you leave. Assume you can justify costs when you had the chance to study in Canada and showed $22k plus tuition of your own money. To IRCC, will come across as not planning to leave.

So to change my status I would be applying for a visitor record first? After I receive my PAL can I apply for my study permit at the same time?

You cannot work past July 28 so apply for a VR before then. Need to apply for study permit before the 28th and if for September, you probably will not get it in time.
