Just an update, a friend of mine who landed (3 persons) on 4 May had their cards approved today. I called CIC and the guy even though really helpful checked and confirmed my card is still in processing, he could see no notes/updates on my application (23 april landing). He said that as I'm still within their normal processing timeline, I should wait till 2nd week of July to receive the card. If not then I can call back and they would be able to initiate action. Till then they cannot do anything.

Surprising for me as it has been 54 days since my landing.

I landed on 4th May and had my PR card approved yesterday. There was no request made for photo re-submission by CIC.

CoPR question

It's been more than 60 days and have not received any update on my PR card and looks like it's going to take some time. Currently, I am in the US and need to visit Canada next month. My CoPR has an expiry date (June 20, 2018). What does it mean?
- Is the date a deadline for landing but It remains valid for travel (via land) regardless?
OR
- Can't I use it for travel anymore?

Thanks!

The CoPR expiry date only applies to when you must first land. As your timeline shows you landed on April 19th and presumably left again to the US, then its expiry date is no longer applicable. But just know should you return to Canada without a PR card, your signed CoPR will be needed if you plan to drive across the border as proof you are a Permanent Resident (if you are able to get into the country that way). Although, for flights and/or for commercial travel, you will need a Permanent Residency Travel Document as the CoPR cannot be used for this sort of Canadian entry.

Thanks for the clarification.

Yes I can enter through the land from the US. One more question:
To use the rental car is fine, right?
