Toward Understanding Bill C-6 to Amend Citizenship Act; new 3/5 rule plus

Looks like it can be summed up in one word - filibustering

And worse of all - I don't know whom to blame - Liberals or Conservatives?? :-\ :-\

Within few days - it will be Holidays and then official delay. :'( :'(

I understand that laws take time but what is going on is not comprehensible....

Does anyone think differently?

The grand discussion continues. They really want to make sure to get this right. I just followed in other bills and it averages around 3/4 discussions before moving to next stage.

However for Bill C-6, it has been now (Since Sept 20):

Why discussion is still in HoC - I thought we are done there?

The dates in the link shows discussion for C-6 in Nov as well - They are still discussing in HoC?

we don't know what to think whether it's on purpose or not .... the bill hasn't moved a toe for a while , people would be more surprised if they discuss it at the stage , they shouldn't even put it on the order of the day .... senate will go on vacation on december 23rd until january 31st ..
second reading ..commitee stage ..third reading ..royal assent ...within a month it'll be hard if we consider the way things are being dealt with right now... This bill has been introduced on february 25th.. my opinion is very biased about this bill's future ..

These are rather mentions at the HoC, not discussions. Even after the bill is passed and got the Royal accent, there will be mentions at both houses, this is how politicians give examples and compare things.

I am also now inclined to think that Conservatives are not responsible for this apparent delay(s).

Either some deciding factor is not visible to us (common public)

OR

Bill C-6 was more an electoral stunt. Either way, people awaiting for its implementation are frust.

senate will go on vacation on december 23rd until january 31st ..

I hope they stick to their seats up until Dec. 23..... I think they are eager to go for break a weak or so earlier same as what they did for the summer break. I also wish they come back on Jan. 31, 2017 no mid of February!!! [ They are the SENATORS!!!]

So, the break is presumably from Dec. 16, 2016 - Feb. 7, 2017 ..... Ooooutch!. A total of 12 sittings are left for them to finish.

my prior opinion referred to a political move , in terms of votes for the next election , planned in 2019 . But now , looking at technicalities , the time it becomes a law and then fully implemented and people applying and becoming citizen through c-6 is far away unless a miracle happens..

Not to forget the implementation difficulties to effectively manage the expected massive 'delays' post approval.

I had a lot of enthusiasm with the introduction of this bill but thanks to typical 'politics' - it had not only waned but now its being transformed to 'disdain'. Anyway, nothing we can do except wait (and crib). So let's do that...

it took a year for the conservatives to fully implement it and we had the accurate date not long before the due date .. Let's not forget that IF c-6 is to become law ..its parts will be into force at separate moments ... So the 3/5 rule which a lot of people are expecting now ( especially new PRs) might take a while .. all the people eligible under c24 in 2017 were affected by c24 and won'T benefit most likely from c6 now ..since we're almost in 2017 and c6 was introduced in feb 2016 so ...

Noteworthy to mention that the committees nowadays take forever to discuss bills, you can watch the latest bills S-2, S-3 and C-13.

am i right to say that most of the people affected by c24 will be eligible in 2017 ?
