Hi All,

My brother just received an ITA earlier. Just want to make sure he is eligible before we proceed with the application.

He works at McDonalds full time. Here are the 2 questions we have regarding eligibility.

1) At the time your application is submitted and at the time AAIP assesses your application, your Alberta employer’s primary business activities must belong to an eligible industry, as defined by the Worker's Compensation Board (WCB) – Alberta industry code or exempt activities.

McDonalds fall under this I assume?
Restaurants, Catering87501Operation of Coffee Shops, Drive-In Restaurants, Restaurants, Take-Out Services, Bartending Services

2) At the time your application is submitted, your Alberta employer must be a member of an eligible sector association, provided in Table 2 below.

McDonalds fall under this sector right?
Food and BeverageRestaurants Canada

Thanks for the answers in Advance. Goodluck to all of the applicants.

Hi Naturgrl, Yes he's on LMIA and has been working for a year and a half now.

Those 2 questions above are the only ones we need to confirm as the information about them are hard to find.

Thanks

They need an LMIA or a special WP due to the wildfire to qualify.

Yes Canuck78, he's on LMIA and has work permit expiring this September.

Thoughts on the questions above? Maybe I should contact WCB and Restaurants Canada?
The answers when I google them says YES to both:

1) Yes, McDonald's operates within an eligible, compulsory industry as defined by the Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) of Alberta. Restaurants, including fast-food chains, are classified under industries requiring mandatory coverage (e.g., Industry 87501 - Restaurants/Catering) to protect workers in case of injury, as shown in the WCB Alberta Industry Classifications.

2) Yes, McDonald's Canada is associated with industry groups in Alberta that qualify as part of the tourism and hospitality sector, particularly for initiatives like the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) Tourism and Hospitality Stream.
Key Details Regarding Associations & Eligibility:
  • Restaurants Canada: McDonald's Canada is explicitly connected to Restaurants Canada, which is the national voice of the foodservice industry and serves as a major association in this sector.
Thanks!

Pretty shocked that a McDonald’s worker was able to get selected actually especially given the volume of applicants. Are they even in a rural area?
