we sent my husband on November 15th, and have not heard back from them at all, no email no nothing. I sent the extension to Vegreville. Did you apply online and is that the reason you got a quick response from them?

I made the application online. I think at the time they were claiming 35 days processing time on their site, and it seems they were spot on, if not slightly ahead of their estimated processing period. Providing you have at least received notification that they have received your application for processing, you should be fine I would think 
we havent rec'd anything yet, all I have is from canada post that the application was received, paid $50 to get it to Vegreville overnight 
So what are you going to do now? would applying for the restoration help?
it's so frustrating that you can't be here with your wife get papers in a normal amount of time so you can start working a support your family.

I have been away sulking for a bit, given my earlier refusal letter from CIC. I resigned myself to being separated from my wife and family and figured, if they are going to kick me out anyway, I may as well use up the 90 days given to me to apply for restoration of status. My understanding of that being that I have that time to either apply for restoration or leave the Country voluntarily. I figured at least I would get the guardianship hearing out the way (incidentally, we were granted guardianship of the little one on 21st Feb by the family court, just waiting now on the paperwork arriving) and at least be able to spend what little precious time with my family as I could.
I have, however, come full circle in my mind over the last few days. I feel like I should not be going back to the UK without at least putting up some sort of effort to stay here with my wife and family, so I'm back with something of a renewed energy and a determination not to let the machine grind me down any further over this.
I'm now out of status as it expired on 23rd January while I was waiting on their decision for an extension application.
The application was refused on financial grounds. They stated that they didn't think I had enough money to support my stay and be able to leave at the end of it. I didn't have my own bank statements available at the time I applied, and still don't, so I simply said that my wife was going to support me during the remainder of my stay. My wife wrote a letter confirming this and our reasons for my extension application. I included her bank statements for the previous 3 months and proof of her employment status. She is a government employee and makes good money, so her supporting me is a non issue. I asked for an extension till January 2016, i.e 1 year. The truth is, now that I have paid bills etc, both here and back in the UK, I no longer have a lot of money and can't earn any while I'm here as a visitor. I have to assume that my application was refused, not because my wife couldn't support me, but because I personally didn't show financial means, i.e money in my bank account.
In the mean time, I have obtained my police certificates from the UK and have an upfront medical booked for 10 days time, to be honest, I'm dreading it, but now determined more than ever to soldier on with this.
If I apply for restoration, I assume I have no implied status while I wait on a decision?
I also assume that my current status, i.e none now, will prevent a PR application, taking the Inland route instead of the Outland one?
I hate being here without the blessing of the Canadian Govt and have never overstayed anywhere before, including here with past visits. It was never my intention to break the law.
I'm really in dire need of some options???

hi prickly, I find that so strange that you got a refusal....what is cic doing? My husband had no funds whatsoever, no banks satements, I sent all the proof in.
My husband sent his vis ext in Nov, and just the other day he rec'd his extension from the date it was issued for a year. But while he were waiting we did send a PR inland application. He is also from a visa exempt country Croatia.
If I were you i would apply for the restoration visa, and also send an inland application (don't think you can send the OWP in now because you have no status yet), I don't think you can apply outland now, if you want to stay in canada.
Hoepfully someone with some more experience here will be able to give you better advice. Good Luck

See if there's a way for you to work remotely (via the internet). As long as you do not work for a company in Canada, you would NOT be violating the terms of your visitor visa. This would allow you to show a bit of income (not that you should have to, I agree) and might appease CIC, if that truly was their concern.

You have no status while waiting for restoration, though you can stay in Canada until a decision is made.
Your current status doesn't prevent you from applying outland. You will see some people on here state that an out of status person can't apply outland but that isn't true. An inland PR app doesn't give you any right to stay in Canada; though illegal inland applicants are rarely removed from Canada, it HAS happened. The inland app is then cancelled and they have to start over again outland.

Ok, given what I'm reading here, here's what I think we should do...
I was thinking that if I could still have applied for the OWP, despite my current out of status, status, that we should have changed things and applied Inbound, however, as that's now a non starter, we shall continue with our oringinal plan and apply Outbound for PR, with her sponsoring me. We already have the forms filled in and proofs of relationship, marriage cert, photos, emails, phone records, old travel itineries for previous visits both here and in the UK etc. I now also have my UK Police Cert and by the time we apply, I will have had my medical done upfront.
Apply for Restoration, this time I'll try and muster up some funds in my own bank, at least what I would need to say, buy a ticket, back to the UK, as well as providing more proof that my wife can support me while I'm here. I'm also on her benefits, so I can prove that medical etc is a non issue too, so I'll include that too. I will quote them the case number, now that I have it, for the local family court that I had to attend as my primary reason for not leaving when my original status was up. I will also include a copy of the receipt for my PR application to show them that we are serious about my staying here full time in the future.
Am I missing anything here?
I have a question about the Restoration, does this only get me 6 months again, or can I apply for say a year or longer? I guess I would want to ask for enough time to settle the PR, but I'm not sure they will even consider it given what's already happened. I can't help feeling that they will instantly dismiss it anyway, as the immigration officer may just see that one of his collegues already refused my extension and may just do the same so as not to be seen to go against his mate's decision. IS that paranoia on my part or what...
I also have a question about my upcoming Medical. No, no, nothing to do with rubber gloves, I promise
I have a UCI number already, assigned I think when I created my account for the first time on the CIC site in relation to my previous extension application.
Can I use that same number for the medical? I know that ordinarily an upfront medical would normally be done prior to having any UCI/ IME number allocated, as an application has yet to be filed. I guess what I'm asking is does the UCI number pertain to the person/ account as opposed to the application type? I know the panel physician can give me a copy of the form with the a UCI/ barcode on it, to include in my PR application, but I was thinking that if I can give them my pre-existing UCI number, they can generate this form with my number on it, as opposed to allocating me a different one thereby risking it getting lost in the CIC system at some later date.

Ok, so I sent the application away using XpressPost, so I could track it etc. I sent it to the Courier address for Missisauga CPC given on the CIC website. I just checked the tracking info and have just found out that it is "undeliverable", according to the tracking information, which seems really odd. Does anybody know if this should have went to the P.O Box instead? I thought that XpressPost was Canada Post's Parcel Courier? My frustration level just now leaves me without broadcastable words...

Ok, got it sorted out on Monday there. Woohoo, our applcation for PR and Sponsorship is finally with CIC.
I must have spent almost a whole day trying to find a telephone number, with a human on the end of it at least, for Canada Post. I don't know if it is just me, but I get the feeling they are even more shy than CIC, when it comes to talking to the very public that pay their wages.
I mention this because I had a somewhat frustrating call to CIC a couple of weeks ago, right after making my restoration application. Long story, but I came off the phone in total disbelief at what I was told. What an amazingly cavalier attitude they have, especially considering just how serious these things are in peoples lives. Not to mention that I think I accidentally made it through to a human in the first place. What a call menu system that is on their "don't expect any help, helpline", very obviously designed to make you hang up and cross your fingers. Anyway, I digress.
I did eventually find a telephone number for Canada Post, after downloading a pdf file, but it's not at all obvious on their website. It is buried in the tools/ postal guide section under the link "customer service" for anyone else that needs to find it. Anyway, after a couple of mins explanation, the guy on the other end of the phone couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful. They even confirmed delivery and called me back and apologised for it being a day or two late getting there, even though it appears now that I was at fault here. They took and confirmed with me the PO Box address details and redirected it there instead of the courier address. It was delivered the next morning. So in all, it was a mixed bag of excitement and frustration for me, but shook out OK in the end, no thanks to my fumbling...
So in this case at least, +1 to the Canada Post staff for sorting out the mess I left for them to fix

Allthough I have definitely found that internal tracking, i.e tracking mail originating and traveling inside Canada, is far worse than for mail coming into Canada from outside. Whenever something is scanned and handed over to them by another carrier, they seem much more on the ball with it and I have never had holes, missed steps or even missed signatures, whenever it has come in from somewhere else. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones...

The application that was made in 2015 went sideways quickly. As it turned out, my wife somehow ended up with either a wrong form, or an out of date one, mixed in with her part of the application. The explanation given by CIC was as clear to me as mud as to which form they were meaning. The entire thing was returned to us, duly wrapped in brown paper, not in any sort of shipping box etc. It promptly got wet, of course and fell apart in the post. Canada Post kindly put what they could find of it in a sealed poly bag and returned it to us. We got the last of it back in Oct 2016 missing a few photos and the odd sheet or two of paper from our evidence!
Life took an unexpected spiral for me, my Mum died in June 2015, and I had to return to the UK to deal with matters. Not too long after I returned to Canada, lo and behold, I was granted the Visitor extension/ restoration that I had applied for in April 2015. Caught a lucky break I thought, but a bad combination of laziness and life, diverted my attention away from immediately re-applying for my PR. I knew that I was having to leave again anyway to attend my best friend's wedding in Oct 2016, so figured I may as well make my application after that time. I returned to the UK mid August the day before my visitor record expired and right after having my old collie dog of 12 years die in my arms just a few days earlier. Suffice to say I was not in a good place emotionally and really angry that I had to leave yet again
My wife and grand daughter joined me in the UK a little later and we all went to the wedding, which was in Cyprus. Upon our return to Canada I got pulled over by immigration and initially given 48hrs to leave, which then went up to a week after I explained that I had my grand daughter to look after and our circumstances. After a bit more explaining and begging etc, I finally left the desk with a visitor record for 30 days.
As luck would have it, one of my wife's work colleagues knew of a really good immigration consultant, so a quick phone call or two and a few emails back and forth made sure that our application was fit for purpose again. We re-applied for my PR in January 2017 and I also applied in November for an extension of my visitor status, but this time by post rather than online. I figured it would give our PR application time to get under way before they got to my extension and could then see on their system that I had applied for PR. In February we were notified that my wife could sponsor me and a week later I was asked to replace my photos, which I did and returned them the next day. I have heard nothing since having my photos re-done and sending them so fingers crossed my application is progressing and I'll hear something soon
So, onto what will hopefully be my last question. Assuming that I am granted my PR, and I see no reason that I shouldn't be, one of the requirements for the landing process, as I understand it, is proving that you have financial means to support yourself for 6 months. Do I still require to meet this criterion given that my wife is my sponsor? My intention is to return one last time to the UK when I receive my COPR thingy, to settle my affairs there and bring my personal belongings back with me etc.
