I, my wife and our 1-year old will be moving to Toronto this year.

Where would you suggest we settle?

Downtown/Midtown Condo?
Downtown Basement?
Suburb House (Brampton,Mississauga,etc.)?
Suburb Basement?
etc...

Most probably I'll be working full-time (if I find a job!) so my wife will be full-time on our baby.

It really depends on your budget and what sort of lifestyle you are looking for. My advice would be to live downtown, as I think that's the best way to get a feel for the city. Also, you avoid the hassles of having to buy a car, pay for insurance, etc. That said, if you are looking for more room, then you may want to consider a townhouse a bit further North (around the Yonge/Eglinton area) or even a detached house in one of the suburbs. If you do choose the suburbs, I would suggest looking at something that is North rather than West (i.e., mississauga) as you will have proximity to the subway line which you will likely take to get to work. Good luck!
