Hi guys,

I'm traveling to Toronto in few days, however, I'm doing a connection (1h, 30m) in Montreal. Where do I have to start showing my documents to get the study permit, please?

I'm hearing that it is in the first entry point, but if I start doing that in Montreal, I'm sure I'll lose my connection to Toronto since I guess that whole process takes at least 2 hours.

BTW, I'm traveling with family so I guess it could be more delayed.

Thanks!

You have to do everything in Montreal. You have no choice as you go through immigration at the point of entry. You most likely have to get all your baggage too as it is then rechecked to Toronto.

Once you go to the gate for your connection you leave the international side and immigration. You are in Canada.

but I will only switch planes, my luggage will be moved directly from plane to plane. I will have to request to bring my luggage, do immigration and get a new flight?

sorry I just realized I put this in the wrong chat, I'm not moving from US but Colombia.

Ok but you still go through immigration in Montreal. Immigration may want to see your bags so you collect them, go through immigration & then put them on a carousel & proceed to your gate. Bags don’t usually go directly to Toronto if immigration is involved. Don’t know flights but there are fewer flights between Montreal & Toronto so you would be moved to the next available flight.
