hi. my I'ved been approved for nomination program here in alberta and have a 2 year boyfriend who is a foreign worker too. im already preparing my application for my pr.

we were kinda wondering if it would be faster if we get married first before my pr application or it would be easier if i wait for my pr approval and get married. if this is the case then can i get married right after my pr approval or i need to wait for several months to get married? would the immigration question me why i get married right after my pr approval?

thanks and hope to hear from you guys soon.

If you're going to get married anyway, it will be faster and a lot less complicated to marry now and include him in your application because, if you get married later, you'll have to add him anyway and that will delay your landing because he will have to be assessed before you can land. (If you marry and don't add him, he'll be exempted from the Family Class and you won't ever be able to sponsor him.) In addition, if you are currently living together - even if you don't get married - and you don't "declare" him as your common-law partner, that would cause him to be excluded from the Family Class at a later date and he'd be ineligible to be sponsored. You really have to be careful with this.

Just keep in mind that in either case, whether you marry now and include him in your application as your spouse, or marry later and then have to add him, if he's inadmissible to Canada for any reason (health or arrest record, for example) you'll be found inadmissible, too.

Note: (because this might come up). Yes, spousal applicants are excessive medical demand exempt - but only when being sponsored by someone who is already a Canadian PR or citizen. If you include a spouse on a provincial nominee or skilled worker class application, they can be found medically inadmissible. In addition, any applicant (even a sponsored spouse) can be found criminally inadmissible. If you are including a spouse on a PN or SW ap and they are inadmissible to Canada, you become inadmissible, too.

thanks for replying. but both of us are already in canada and he have a work visa here and considered landed in canada already, would it be more complicated if we get married before because i also need to inform the nomination program office that i got married and would it the decision might alter because i am married after i got the nomination approved?

i really appreciate you in clearing things out for me.

You can get married now and include him in your application or process your AINP and land first as PR, before getting married, and sponsoring him later.
