I'm truly sorry to hear your loss.

As others said, your mom doesn't need to go back to India for further processing. She can do medicals here and collect PCC. However, you need to notify CIC/LVO re: your father's demise. Send a copy of your father's death cert. In case it's not in English or French, you will require to translate and certify it (DO NOT SEND THE ORIGINAL). I had to send my dad's death cert. (translated, certified & notarized by docsbase.ca as it was partly in English) to Singapore-VO from Canada on their request.
Dear All Thanks a lot for your expertise replies. My Dad's death certificate is in English and will send along with a letter. Also I will pay the fees, but i am concerned about the time lines that defined in the email we got for PCC and medical. They wanted to be done before March 13. Latest medical appointment available is March 10. Hope this medical report will reach CIC on time. Also BLS told me that it will take 6 weeks to get police certificate from India. Time line for PCC is March 30, 2017. Hope things will go alright for my Mom.

Immigration Medical Exam (IME)

The IME consists of a medical history, physical examination, age-specific laboratory tests and age-specific chest x-ray.

Mandatory age-specific laboratory and radiologic tests include:
1. Urinalysis – clients ≥ 5 years
2. Chest x-ray – clients ≥ 11 years
3. Syphilis – clients ≥ 15 years
4. HIV – clients ≥ 15 years
For No. 1, 3 and 4, the doctor normally takes blood and ask for urine. But for No. 2; you will be referred to specific lab nearby.

The regular physical examination will include the following (but not limited to):
1. Full body checkup
- Ear/nose/throat/mouth
- Hearing
- Eyes (including fundoscopy) + Best distance visual acuity
- Cardiovascular system
- Respiratory system
- Nervous system
- Mental/cognitive/intellectual state
- Gastrointestinal system
- Musculoskeletal system
- Skin and lymph nodes
- Breast examination (for female patients)
2. Height/weight/BMI
3. Blood pressure
The physical exam may extend to relevant checks depending on medical questionnaire and past medical history.

Example of Additional Tests:
1. If diabetic, one may have to do diabetes blood test (12 hour fasting) on a separate day at a lab
2. If hypertensive (even if under control with medication), one may have to creatinine and/or further test at a lab
3. If issue/history with cardiovascular system, one may have to do rerum creatinine and/or further test at a lab
Note: Depending on past medical history and the physician's findings from IME, the physician can ask for further tests according to their handbook. After his report+lab results are provided to RMO (Regional Medical Office), the RMO can request furtherance on any findings (directly to patient or physician).

I hope it helps with some confusion with IME.

Rossei,

I really hope you /or someone can guide me. I am in a very difficult situation. I sponsored my parents last year and they just received their medical request in February. They live in India and my parents are overall in good health so we never thought there would be any issues.
They did their medical last week and then yesterday their hospital called them to inform that my mom actually is positive of hepatitis B. they did not give much detail and said they wanted to let her know so she can get it treated. They said they have already submitted the results to CIC but haven't received anything yet. My mom is already doing some further testing to find out what type of hep b she has, what stage and treatments needed etc.

I am so worried that CIC might refuse her application. Can someone please guide me on what I should do ? or if anyone knows of something like this that happened before and if CIC refused the application???

Sorry to hear that, but you don't have to worry about her immigration. According to the IME Instructions specific for Hepatitis, if Hepatitis B Serologic Test result (HBsAG and HepCAb) shows evidence of HBV virus, the doctor is supposed to tell the patient to do a Liver Enzyme ALT and refer to gastroenterologist (additionally an HIV screening) before sending the report to CIC. For a negative result, the doctor sends the report directly to CIC. Now, I'm not sure what your hospital followed.

In any case, if RMO (CIC) decides to do furtherance, your mom may have to the things I mentioned. This may delay the processing, but won't alter the outcome.

Read the IMEI for Hepatitis/Liver below (there is a flowchart at the end which nicely summarizes what I said here):

Thank you Rossei for the message. The hospital already sent the results to CIC and didn't tell her to do any further tests. They just let her know to get it treated and she is doing certain tests on her own. Is there a way my parents can get the doctors to redo the test or ask them to let CIC know that they will submit again and to ignore the first tests?

Since the report has already been sent, it's not a good idea to alter anything. The RMO will review it. If they're satisfied, you don't have to do a thing. If they aren't, they will instruct your mom or the PP/Hospital to do further testing.

Just keep an eye on your/mom's email and MyCIC/E-Cas status. Ask your mom to keep all records that she is undergoing with the specialist. The PP/Hospital will perhaps send these findings if they get a furtherance request from RMO.

Hello,
When I got my medical done a couple of years ago, I just walked into a Doctor's office in Toronto and was done in a couple hours.
Not sure where you are in Canada but there are walk-ins available too.

Hope that helps.

Hi everyone, we're sponsoring my grandmother and received a request for medicals early December, medicals were completed December 16th. Early January there was a furtherance request for a pneumologist specialist. My grandmother has a hernia pushing on one of her lungs that makes it more difficult to breathe, however despite her old age she is fully capable and self sufficient. The pneumologist indicated that she does need any special treatment or medication.

Anyone else on here sponsoring a grandparent? How has the process been so far for you? Thanks I feel like I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting to hear back.

Hi all,
My parents are currently in Canada and have received their stamped passports. We plan to do a POE landing at Niagara falls this weekend. I remember that when we landed, we were able to bring in jewelry without paying any duty on it when we landed- we had to get the photos of the jewelry stamped. Since my parents are in Canada and we plan to do the landing here itself- what is the process of bringing valuables later when they do travel to their home country? I don't believe that the goods to follow list applies to valuables. I tried searching cic website but did not get a definite answer. Can someone help with my query?
Hi all, any advice on this would be much appreciated

Can't help you much on this. You can call CBSA office and ask their advice. Meanwhile you can take a look at the CBSA Forms depot if any form serves your purpose:

Hi,

My CIC showing "Review in Progress"

ECAS says "Decision Made" under Spronsership application.

I called CIC to double check if they have correct home address & email address as I did t get any confirmation email or paper mail. Rep was very helpful looking into details and confirmed that sponsorship eligibility was passed on Feb 1 2017 and a letter was prepared on Feb 10 which is not yet sent out to me..

My app is from January 5 2016 8:52 AM purolator batch. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting for SA. Hopefully everyone will hear good news very soon :)

Oh rep also suggested to start the process of getting PCC from India and Canada done :)
Hello Everyone,

I had mine reasssed for 2013 & 2014 but i included that with my original application. I don't think you have included in the original application. But if you were already eligible why you need to re-submit it unless they ask?

Hello Guys,
Application received Jan4,2016 by Purolator 9:43 batch signed by Tammy, Got first letter in May. Second letter June and application moved to the Ottawa office for processing. Since then no update. online status is same or no email received. Kind of worried. I guess most of the applicants got medical and police verification already? Please let me know if anyone else in the same boat.

Thanks,
Fahim

Just quick question for medical.

My parents did medical test today and the doctor told them to send IME# to the visa office.

But according to the email that I got from visa office, I don't need to do that.

Could somebody confirm this for me please?

Thank you.
