I'm just wondering has anyone recently applied the family class (specifically spousal) immigration through Seoul Visa Office in Korea. I already got the first stage approved and our application was sent to Seoul Visa Office in mid-Feb. Not sure how long it will take to get the PPR. ::)
I checked on other site and heard several applicants saying it's quite slow.
Anyone has any idea about this visa office?

any input would be great.

cheers ;)

It took about 9 months from submitting the app to my wife landing in Canada (Oct 10 to July 11). If we didn't forget the Chinese Police Certificate, I would assume that it would be have 7 months.

Ours took 13 months from receipt at Seoul to visa issue. We had a twist so it took longer. The published processing time for Seoul has gotten progressively longer from 6 months when we first applied to 9 months by time PR was received.

We're almost at 9 months from the time that our application was received in Seoul. Since beginning our preparation, filing the application, and during the waiting process the processing time has changed from 6 months, to 7 months, to 8 months, and now to 9 months (and that's based on what's gone on in the last year). We have two more days until we reach the 9 month mark. Be patient, my guess is that it will be close to 10 months by the time you receive your results.

> 9 months, had an issue with my (sponsor) intent to return to Canada.

My follow-up question is, for those of you that got visa issued, did they email you the result when they completed or did you have to wait for the slow mail to arrive? Did any of you email the Seoul office asking for response and how responsive were they? (Did they reply with your information, did they tell you to stop emailing them and go away, ??)

Everything for us was sent by regular mail. They did not respond to any email requests for updates. On the plus side, judging from our courier tracking and the dates on their letters, they turned additional information requests around a day later with the passport request. Once the passport arrived, they also issued the visa in one day.

Just to update our info, we checked e-cas and our status changed to 'in-process' as of May 3rd. Seoul received our application on June 22nd 2011, March would've been the average processing time of 9 months and now that they've just changed our status to in-process makes me think that the avg time has extended. Anyone else experiencing the same long wait? Hopefully good news soon!!! Fingers crossed!

I was just wondering about the problem with intent to return to Canada. My understanding was that they only questioned that during the sponsorship approval. The consultant who looked over my file said that that was the one area she thought that proof was lacking in my application, so Im a little nervous about it.

Our new (and hopefully, more competent) consultant has told us that she would not take any case involving people who are not in Canada concerning the intent to return. So, if you could help it I would strongly advice staying in Canada.
