Hello seniors, experts, peers

My questions is, how do I show ties to my home since I haven't lived there in 5 years?
I will be applying from CHC ISB [PK] in about a month's time. for student visa (have been admitted into McMaster MBA)

When I apply:
-I will have just arrived in PK
-I will be living with relatives
-I will be unemployed at the time (was working in Sri Lanka, contract finishes Mar 24)
-I will not have lived in PK since 2009 (studying in Malaysia, working in Sri Lanka)
-My parents will still be working/living in Sri Lanka
-My only sibling is studying in Malaysia
-We own a house, but it is being rented out

Funds and academic mismatch should not be a problem. IETLS/GMAT and other tests are golden too. Only problem I see might be showing ties to home country/showing proof I'll be willing to leave Canada at the end of my studies.

So please give me some advice. How do I show ties to my home country, and do you think I will be rejected because of these circumstances?

1. You can't prove home ties (if you are a prospective student) by showing millions/property/business. There is NOTHING in the visa checklist to suggest ways to prove/show home ties. The ONLY WAY to prove/show home ties;

-Your previous academic history/marks/grades.
-Your proposed course selection and scores like GMAT/GRE (if required).
-First year tuition fee + CAD 10,000.

Re: Guys, how do I show ties to my home country? PLEASE HELP

thanks enfield.

I have seen prospective students on this forum getting rejected with the reason 'you have not sufficiently shown me that you will leave the country at the end of your academic studies'

in your experience, why do you think the case officer suspects that? is it not a lack of home ties (family etc) ???

Re: Guys, how do I show ties to my home country? PLEASE HELP

Do clarify please someone.

Enfield, bro, if you can add a few more lines, wud gr8ly appreciated. m quiet worried.

According to me , You file is not so complicated. Because you moved from Malaysia just after your studies. And again back to home country after contract.
You should clearly explain everything of your travel history. Take a course relating to your previous education, good funds , and if possible show a property on your name in PK. Other then that, you don't have anything to show.

Good Luck.

Re: Guys, how do I show ties to my home country? PLEASE HELP

I am Pakistani studying in undergrad in Canada but i came from Saudi and i showed absolutely no ties to my country. Only 50000 CAD in my dad's account.

Re: Guys, how do I show ties to my home country? PLEASE HELP

Showing strong ties to your country is an important step in any temporary visa application. What would compel you to leave Canada at the end of your studies? Family, future employment prospects as a result of the education you obtained in Canada and in the past, property. Discuss your travel history. Where have you been? Explain that you have been to XYZ, that you have always returned home before visa expiry and abided by the laws of the country. What future family responsibilities might you have? Hope this helps.

Aman, yes I do realize its a very complicated travel history. Hopefully, it won't be a 'make it' or 'break it' factor. :(

Re: Guys, how do I show ties to my home country? PLEASE HELP

I said your case is not complicated. Because your travel history is nice. Just take a course which goes with your studies. And write a explanation letter definitely.

Good Luck.

I meant that having a travel history is a good thing. It shows that you have a history of returning home. Use it to your advantage. Good luck

Re: Guys, how do I show ties to my home country? PLEASE HELP

OK, now I've got another questions. As some of you may know, my work visa expire in a few weeks. I've got two options now:

OPTION 1: Go Back to PK
It'll be a relatively simple procedure. However, cons are, I have no place to stay, my family is in SL. So I will have to spend money to get room/hotel something for who knows how long. It could be 2 months, could be 4 months. I have no transport either, so it'll be a bit problematic and expensive, since got no job either.

OPTION 2: Stay is Sri Lanka
I can register for CFA classes in Sri Lanka. It's a cheap course (300 dollars), runs 1 year and I can then stay on under study permit. The course runs from May 2013-2014. Of course, my plan will be to attend classes and apply for Canadian study visa. My MBA program in Canada starts in August, so at that point I will simply fly out of Sri Lanka. In affect, I will be transitioning from Sri-Lanka work visa to Sri-Lanka study visa.

My questions are: Which option do you think I should choose and why?
And if I choose option 2 (who doesn't wanna live at home?), will that affect my Canada study permit chances when I apply from Sri Lanka?

Any ideas guys?
