Hello to all concerned,

I am a filipina married to a canadian. Would really want to know how many cases of outland application in Manila canadian embassy for family class (specifically for spouse/conjugal/common law partner) is being put on hold for year/s now... perhaps in this manner we can figure out why its taking our cases so long so please put in your views/opinion what may have caused the delay. thank you and regards

August 09 Submitted application for sponsorship including medicals
and prepaid all fees
September 24, 09 Manila started processing my application
October 09 PPR and some documents (which i submitted promptly)
Feb 2010 asked to submit more proofs of relationship
July 2010 Was informed after emailing for update that case was on
review
Sept 2010 GOT MARRIED here in philippines
Informed embassy of change of status
Sent them pics of wedding after a few days
Oct 2010 Was requested original NSO copy of Marriage contract and
original NSO copy of advisory of marriage
(note i only sent them advanced endorsement from provincial
statistics office as it takes 4/5mos before our marriage
is reflected on National statistics office)
Oct 26, '10 Received email informing of INTERVIEW
Nov. 22, '10 Had interview in MANILA
Was APPROVED by VO
Though i was asked to have remedicals
Dec 16, 2010 Remedicals were submitted to manila by designated
medical doctor via worldwideexpress/dhl
(NOTE: NOTHING WRONG WITH MY MEDICAL, infact it had
same results as to my first medical)
Dec 20, 2010 Medical report received by mr lubos at visa section
Jan 10, 2011 Hubby emailed embassy for update on our case
Only got the electronic response acknowledging receipt
of email and that they would reply after 28days

TO DATE NO WORD FROM THEM!!!

I'm not familiar with Manila particularly but it sounds like you're almost done and should have your PR visa very soon!

Your process is pretty normal - they request documents, you send them, they asses, they request more documents, etc, etc... Everytime new documents are required they give you a timeline within which to submit. If they give you 90 days, they often won't even look at the file again until the 90 days are up. In your case they asked for documents twice plus an extra month to schedule the interview... this easily accounts for an etra 7 months of processing and now re-doing the medical...

As I understand it the DMP sends the medicals to the regional medical facility where it is assessed and then their recommendation is sent to the visa office. Apparently this can take up to 6 weeks as the medical centres assess medical results for mass regions (all of Africa only has one for example)... with the december holidays in the middle it's not surprising if ot takes a little longer (after all the waiting you've already done!!)

But again - sounds like you're pretty much done so shouldn't be very much longer!!

TODAY I AND MY SON RECEIVED OUR COPRs AND VISAs!!! After 18 gruelling months i can finally be with my husband. To all the members here who have been a source of strength and hope, who took time to share their views and who willingly gave themselves through their words of encouragement... thank you!

I will continue to access the forum should i be of help to those that have some queries regarding outland spousal sponsorship/PR application.

To crissy (precious123), sweetheart... youve been an angel. see you in canada!
