Yes you can.

When you drop off the passport etc you are handed a receipt acknowledging that they have received it.
The letter included with PPR says.

If you would like someone else to collect your passport that person must present:
1. the receipt that was issued to you
2. A signed letter form you authorising them to collect your passport
3. one piece of goverment issued ID showing there name and photograph

oh ok, thanks for that! what about drop offs or are they not bothered?

It doesnt say anything about other people dropping it off so i assume its ok. You get a receipt then only
need to authorise someone else picking it up.
Only on thursday 2-3pm, but your letter/email will tell you all that.

Re: Drop off and pick up service in london

For those who want to drop off at CHC London (and this is highly recommended given the 6 week turnaround currently experienced for mail) and aren't in London, don't have friends or family in London or don't fancy the trip to London, I found this visa courier service who were willing to do it: www.visaswift.com. They charge 42.80. I didn't try it myself so I can't say how it worked out but where I am sitting now I really wish I had. Just thought I'd pass along the info. No commercial plug intended either - I'm sure there are other visa services, but this is the only one that said they would do the special CHC drop off and pick up.

Congrats please pray for us as i m desperately waiting for my ppr email.........

So to complete the saga, i got it! I queued in the drop off queue then explained my circumstances. They said that because of the large volume, postal applications are taking the full 6 weeks at the moment. They made a few calls and then a very nice lady appeared with an envelope addressed to me which they had been about to put in the post to me!!! Visa issued 04/04/2011. I land on Saturday in Vancouver. Yay!

Good luck to all other london office applicants patiently waiting.
If my husband doesn't get his passport by next Wednesday I'm going to get him to do this as well. So glad they didn't turn you back. And I'm happy you made your flight. I wish we thought of this before my hubby missed his.

Congratulations!

organised with my friend from London to do it for me! So relieved now that its going to knock a month of waiting off!

Blah, no passport yet.
Yesterday it was 6 weeks since London received it. I sent email to ask whats going on. Getting worried. So weird, that in PPR they say 'you should be expect to be without passport 6 weeks'
and now its over 6 weeks....

so pissed....

anyway, hope next week is better for all. more passports back and more PPRs!!

Based on what ftgpmb was saying London is taking the full 6 weeks due to a backlog of passports. If it's been over six weeks then you are able to call and the receptionist will connect you to someone who may be able to anwer your question. My husband tried calling before the six week mark and the receptionist stated that he cannot speak to anyone unless it's been more the 30 working days or 6 weeks. Good luck and please let me know what the outcome is. My husband has been waiting for nearly six weeks now so we can understand your frustration.

Got my passport back today!
Planning to land on Saturday! Yay!

Finally I can say, it's almost over!

Good luck and hang in there, this day will come...even if it doesn't feel like it

Thumbs up!
