Hi everyone!

Got an email stating the below

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada which has been approved. In order for us to continue the processing of your landing documents, please submit the following:

- Passport: Please submit a scanned copy of the information page of your current valid passport

The above information/documents must be received in our office within 5 days from the date of this email. Failure to do so could result in the refusal of your application. Please quote your complete application number on your correspondence.

Please print out and return this email with the requested documents.

Can I just email across the passport or do I need to post it?
Oh - and please let us know when you receive your paper COPR. Exciting times!

The request is for a scanned copy, so you can email it.

Spreadsheet updated - thanks!
We had a document request on Monday the 24th - request for copy of my partner's birth certificate which I sent back via email. How do the document requests usually work? Should we anticipate more of them or do they send them all at once? I guess it's good that they seem to be reviewing our application already!

If you take a look at the spreadsheet in my signature line, especially the last column, you will see some instances where there were clearly multiple additional items requested on different dates (not many, but some). So no, you can't assume that this will be your one and only request for additional information.

Having said that, you are with Ottawa (much faster than London) and this shows that they are actively reviewing your application already, so I would definitely see this as a positive sign!

Spreadsheet Update: MY CIC application changed to application approved on October 24th. Wondering what the next steps are? My husband is from UK, visa exempt country. Do we just await the COPR in the mail?

Congratulations! Spreadsheet updated. Please let us know when you received the COPR so I can complete your entry.

Yep - that's what you do! It will be sent as a 'signed for' document, so look out for a knock at the door by the postie or a 'sorry we missed you' card. Better think about flights and packing......

Thanks! My husband actually arrived 2 days b4 we found out. So looks like we will be making a trip down to Montana and back once we get the document!

Hi All.
So by looking at the excel Sheet, I believe they have finished the March applications, and now they will start working on April applications.

Is that right so?

I assume your comments relate to the London office. Bear in mind that non-Visa exempt applications take longer. Also it is not as 'mechanical' as you say, as there are a number of much older applications still outstanding for a variety of reasons.

But if you want to over-simplify it - for visa exempt, clean / straightforward spousal sponsorship applications, then yes, that is as good a reading of it as any.

i see this repeated quite often, but i'm not sure whether there's any truth to this. take a look at the 2016 tab on the pakistani spreadsheet and you'll notice that in many cases, non-visa exempt applicants are processed within the same time frame as visa exempt applicants. exceptions are when the applicant is asked to provide additional documents, redo their medical, has an extensive travel history (leading to lenghty background checks), needs further review (i.e. has red flags), or requires an interview.

i've even had an opportunity to look at GCMS notes for some of the non-visa exempt applicants who have gotten passport requests recently. i was surprised to learn that for straightforward and complete cases, it would take LVO less than a week to finalize an application from the time they pull it off the shelf for initial review to the time they make a final decision.

Spreadsheet update (for "kmclintock"): MyCIC has changed to "Your application has been approved" :-D

We can see the letter that accompanies the COPR document, but not the COPR itself... is this sent later by post?

congratulations!

yes, it'll be sent via post to the principal applicant's address. you'll need to sign for it, so keep an eye out for the postman.

On our accompanying letter in MyCIC it says:

YOU MUST ARRIVE IN CANADA ON OR BEFORE: 10/02/2017
The visa expiry date is printed on the top line, right hand side, of the visa which is in your passport,
in the format of day, month, year (dd-mm-yyyy). You must arrive in Canada on or before the visa
expiry date. The visa expiry date is listed on the first page of this letter.
I originally assumed this was October 2nd 2017, but it sounds like it might be as soon as February 10th 2017?!
