Ok great so I don't have to worry about the drama of sending my passport off, I just send the photocopy and then worry about the ETa before I land in Canada! That makes everything a lot easier. Is that what you had to do?
No, I'm Canadian and my spouse landed a few years ago.

Hi SchnookoLoly - a spreadsheet update please :)

Decision made :D! Probably on 12th of March but I didn't check ECAS yesterday.

File went in process on 14th of January
It took a while for them to show medical results received (not until Friday) but then got decision made right after and no communication from them so we're assuming it's a positive decision. My medical was expiring on 12th of March so maybe that affected things? (though the spreadsheet has an error and says May).

Thanks!

How long are the CIC approved medical results valid for? I got mine completed in September last year.

Medicals are valid for 1 year but the validity can be extended at the discretion of CIC. Extending medicals seems to be pretty common from what I've seen on the forums.

Awesome to find someone with practically the same timeline as me. My status also went in process on Jan 7th, but I haven't had any request so far. :/ ...wondering if that's good or bad.
How come you're not on the spreadsheet too?

Did anyone who applied around October get correspondence asking for new photos from London due to CIC changing the specifications?

Mississauga were fine with the first 4 photos but once my application got to London, they asked for 4 more new photos. In true CIC fashion, I have no acknowledgment that these new photos have been received making me quite paranoid that they're not correct. It didn't help that I had the same email twice but a week apart. I'm really hoping this isn't a huge delay in my application.

Hello,

I am Canadian by descent (I was born in UK, but we moved to and lived in Canada from when I was three. My Canadian mum applied for my Canadian citizenship card around 1985. My dad is British and now naturalised Canadian)

I moved to the UK for work about ten years ago. I met my now husband about ten years ago. We have a five year old and a three year old together. We were married 1.5 years ago but have been living together for 9 years. I am hoping to sponsor my husband and two children to move from the UK, where we know live, to Canada.

My question is about my children.

I know I need to sponsor my British husband but I believe our two children are Canadian via my citizenship. Is this correct?

If so, is it more efficient/time and money-wise to apply for evidence of my kids' Canadian citizenship separately. Or better to include two children in overall husband sponsorship package?

Does this make any sense? I'm a bit overwhelmed with questions at the moment!

Thanks in advance (I will likely have more questions for you!)

Thanks! We were surprised we were processed so fast. We thought we were pretty straightforward and our app was very organised but I think it's mostly luck whether you are processed quickly (assuming no flags, complete and relatively simple app etc).

I think you're still in processing? If so good luck and I hope you get a DM soon!

Hi

No, your children are not Canadian. As of 2009, CIC limited citizenship to the first generation born abroad, which would be you.

You will need to include your children in your husband's sponsorship app.

Once the children are PRs, you can then immediately apply for their Canadian citizenship.

Thank you. Yes, still in processing. Really hoping them asking for more photos didn't delay my application by too much. I check everyday for decision made.

Once DM is made, COPR follows that correct? Then a landing interview is scheduled if you're already in Canada? Then you wait 2-3 months for the PR Card? Do British citizens post in their passport at any of these stages?

Just checking this is the way it all works?

Waiting for an appointment to land at an office can take weeks or even months. Flagpoling at the Canada-US border is a much faster way to land. You do not send your passport.
