Hi, I have an update for the spreadsheet. :)

Arrived home from my Christmas break to find a letter by post dated December 16th approving my sponsorship for my partner with his application being transferred to London.
He then received a letter by email dated Dec 29th saying that his photos were not to the correct specification (we are sure they were, but anyway...). Pictures retaken and couriered to and received on January 4th in London.
They changed the size at the end of November . I am also waiting for that letter. My husband landed 28th Dec and i'm sure they will be asking for reprints for his PR card.

Decision made is finally showing in Ecas today!!
I've not received an email though?! How long does it normally take from decision made? Do I just go to the airport to get PR card and land?
They won't email you. It can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks for your COPR to arrive in the mail.

No, you cannot just go to the airport and get a PR card. First, you must have your COPR in order to land. Second, you cannot land as a PR at the airport unless you are actually entering Canada on an international flight. Third, you don't get the PR card when you land; it takes another 2-3 months for the PR card to arrive after landing.

Once you have your COPR, you can either flagpole at the Canada-US border, make an appointment at a CIC office or leave Canada and return on an international flight.

Hi all,

Apologies for an overdue update...I got a passport request from Ottawa on 19/11/2015. I am not sure why they requested my passport though since I am British, it is maybe because I was living in Bolivia for the past few years and have my temporary residence there. As well as the passport request, they requested an updated medical (if expired) and a new police certificate from Bolivia. They requested all this to be submitted within 30 days.

I responded to tell them that I no longer live in Bolivia so cannot provide a new police certificate (I am now living in Toronto since August 2015). I also let them know that I had travel plans so could not submit passport within 30 days (I had a trip to Bangladesh and UK planned). I requested that I am allowed to submit my passport upon return to Toronto (yesterday - 6/1/2015).
CIC responded saying that they granted the passport request extension, they did not comment on the Bolivia police certificate so I assume it is fine. I sent my passport to Ottawa yesterday (6/1/2015).

My medical was done exactly a year ago today so I am hoping this does not cause an issue. In the letter I wrote that the medical had not yet expired, which is technically true since I wrote the letter yesterday :)

I am now waiting for the passport to be returned. Does anyone know how long that should take/anyone had to do this with Ottawa before? My plan is to flagpole at Niagara once ready.

Does anyone know if you are able to work as soon as you land as PR? Do you have to wait to receive your PR card or SIN number or is it allowed to start work immediately?

Thanks!

You can work as soon as you get your sin #

As for the police certificate they require one if you lived or visited that country for more than 6 months, it doesn't matter that you don't live there any more . I would suggest getting one.

Thanks Taffy!

I already submitted my Bolivia police certificate with the original application. They wanted an updated one but you can only get a new one if you are living in the country as you require a permanent address. The police certificate was issued in March and I left in June (but returned with work for a month) so hopefully fine.

When do you receive the SIN number and do you know how long it takes?

Thanks!

You can get your SIN before your PR card arrives - just take the COPR which has been signed by immigration when you land and they'll give you a SIN.
