Hi guys,

So I recieved this from CIC last Tuesday:

I did post about it asking for any advice, since the short 10 day limit sounded like they wanted an email, but the "cover letter" sounded like they wanted it mailed to them. I didn't hear back from you guys so I did both.

The forms are still "In Transit" when I was told they would take 3-5 business days so slightly nervous there but my question is has anyone received a small time window like this before? and what happens if you're overdue by a day or two? (assuming they wanted me to post the forms and the email I sent isn't good enough).

Thanks.
It seems that you are almost at the finish line, by giving you "small time window", is actually asking you to comply with the request ASAP . It does not really matter if your package reaches LVO one or two days late.

My COPR states
"Please note that as of December 1, 2011, citizens of visa -exempt countries will not have a counterfoil affixed to their passport. These applicants will only be issued a Confirmation of Permanent Residence."

"We wish you a pleasant journey and every success in your future in Canada"

Does it mean, i shouldn't expect a counterfoil affixed to my passport as a British Citizen, any idea please.

Out of curiousity I sent CIC an email yesterday and got this reply.

Dear Applicant,

Please be advised that your application is in the final stage of processing and background checks are currently in progress. Please note that this stage of processing can take anywhere from 30 to 90 days to complete. We will contact you once we receive the results of background checks and the reviewing officer has finalised your application. We appreciate your patience during this stage of processing.

As your application is in the final stage of processing, we have returned your original documents that were reviewed in previous stages of processing.

We hope this is of assistance.

( well this is the third email since September and they have been replying the same line "ur application is in final stage"..... they never mentioned about background checks in previous emails....however i found that information from my MP in October..... god knows how long this background checks will take..... just have no patience at all)

That's right, we only need our passport and COPR to land as we are visa exempt. But don't forget your B4 customs form too.

Congratulations! Spreadsheet updated. I think 45 days is a reasonable amount of time. Just in case it does not come in time, I would prepare an online application form to extend your visitor status. This can be submitted any time before your status expires. So if it expires on the 5th of January 2016 as long as you submit on the 4th of January or earlier then you will be on implied status until they make a decision.

Congratulations screen24!

Would you like to be added to the spreadsheet? We use it to track applications being processed in London and the more applications we add the better it is.

If you would like to be added please provide the following and I will add you:

-Date application received in Mississauga
-Whether you applied as Married or Common-Law
-Date of sponsor approval
-Which office is processing Phase 2 of your application (will say on your sponsor approval letter/email)
-Date the permanent residence status changed to In Process on ECAS
-Date(s) of any other requests you've had
-Whether or not the principal applicant is non-visa exempt (if non-visa exempt) provide the applicant's nationality
-Decision Made date
-Date you received your visa
-Current location of the principal applicant- closest major city is fine if you don't want to be too specific!
-Date of medical exam

Thanks,
Andrew

Thanks GISGeek, you've put my mind at rest. When my post's had no response I was worried it was a bad sign and no one wanted to point it out :)

Hi Andrew & thanks for your reply.

Don' t I have to apply for an extension at least 30 days before my status expires?

That is a recommendation just so CIC has some time before your current one expires, but it currently takes longer than 30 days anyway, so you are going to go on implied status regardless.

I have applied for several visitor extensions this way - applying one or two days before it expires. Just be sure you have everything you need (photos, forms, etc) otherwise you will be scrambling to the finish line!

I had hoped I would get decision made before this thread made it to 1300 pages. We are only 5 pages away now so looking unlikely.

I am hoping for a big push from London next week as it is the last full week in November and it would be great if the number of approvals this month is more than last month.

Have a good weekend everyone.
