Hello all,

Well after a wonderful weekend in Seattle, me and my husband crossed the border and I officially landed as a permanent resident.

With no baggage to declare, it was a simple procedure. The officers on duty all congratulated me and it was all processed in less than 20 minutes.

I am thrilled this is over now and I can start looking into some university courses and beginning things once again.

Good luck to all 2012 applicants still waiting :)

xo

Congrats and welcome fully to Canada. Enjoy your stay.

FRT.

Thanks frt it is easier said then done. Neither of us has been married before. We are in a common law relationship, can't you private message me the types of interview questions they asked you in London , where your interview was. How long did it take for scheduled interview, and then pr afterward.

Thanks in advance

Well, I have done it and I know its nothing to worry about. I nearly kill myself with anxiety and worries then. Just to let you know, one question leads to another. We have been in previous relationship before and that was why we were called for interview. They might want to establish the fact that your relationship is genuine due to your common law status and why you did not legalize it. My husband was not asked too much question because we just lost our only child. We were informed in May that an interview is required, we did not get a date until early August and the interview was late August (2weeks window). PLEASE GO THRU THE QUESTIONS POSTED EARLIER, THEY ARE PART OF IT BUT NOT ALL APPLIED TO YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT MARRIED. I can't help more than this, I just ordered my ATIP note, when I get it, I might know what exactly my hubby was asked. Our interview was successful, additional document was asked. Background check still going on.

Meanwhile, remember our situation is different. I know my husband was asked the following questions:

How do you support your wife when she was pregnancy

How did you guys lost the child.

How was he buried, any certificate to prove that.

What happen in your formal relationship.

What is your spouse doing in Canada now.

Where have you been to together (travel evidence).

How many people attends your wedding, where is the reception etc.

Depends on what you filled in your form.

Why did you decided to settle with her in Canada, why not Uk and any other country.

Good luck.
FRT.

Hello, this is my first post here so please be gentle lol

My spouse and I are about to apply for family class sponsorship through London, my wife is a Canadian student and has been living with me and studying in Belfast NI for the last couple of years (we were married in August of this year) and we were wondering if anyone has any advice to throw our way. So far I have applied for acpo police check, my medical appointment is in a weeks time, she has filled out the sponsors form and I the applicants form with all the relevant supporting docs and photos etc once i have the medical done and the police check returns it is all getting posted.

Just wondering if they will be looking any more information that i can start getting organised now like my proof of earnings or rent contracts for example, also a bit confused as to where we send the applications, do they go to the London office or do we send them to Mississauga?

thanks in advance for any advice , sorry if this has already been covered if anyone would like to point out a particular thread that would be appreciated.

John

Frt,
Are you british/canadian relationship? Yea it's odd they want us for an interview. We will get married but didn't want to live a part in the mean time. We wanted to be in the same country before a wedding?

Hi John,
I am a Canadian Citizen living with my Wife in Belfast, Northern Ireland also. We sent our application in July to Mississauga as it needs to go there first. We sent in anything that had both our names on things, like the rental agreement, etc. Although there is no financial requirement for sponsoring a spouse, we still sent in some information regarding our financial situation just so that they know that we will not need social assistance. Are you going for your Medical in Dublin?

Background checks? How long anyone know
It's different in every case, and there is no fixed limit on how long they can take.
Some people sail through in a matter of days but others take many many months.

If they told mp that we will be called for an interview, is it a definite or something that they could change mind on and not do?

Hi everyone
I have been away for some time and just wanted to update the forum.
I couldn't attend my interview which was scheduled in September due to an unexpected emergency, and I had to leave UK. I informed VO London about it and that I am not in UK now, VO London wrote to me saying they are transferring my file to a VO in my home country and I will be notified once the transfer is complete.
Nice to see lots of DM on the spread sheet. Keep it going London.

Got the wonderful email everyone dreads...

we are needed for an interview!!! No idea why, suggestions would be great.
We are common-law but have been apart for 3 years due to immigration reasons, school debt that we wanted gone before we moved to Canada officially. We have had numerous visits every year, being apart has not been easy
But they do say good things come to those that wait right?
