If I recall correctly a UK outland applicant was asked the same. Have you travelled quite a lot? I believe they had spent some time travelling and that was counted towards their time 'common lawing' so CIC were aware of their travels.

Hi all,

I got my COPR last month, and I have to travel to Canada before the end of March to get it signed etc at immigration, to get my PR card issued. I just have a couple of questions...

I've just booked my flight over to Vancouver for March. I only booked for myself, though. My wife (sponsor) won't be coming out with me, as we're desperately trying to save money for our move and this trip to get the COPR sheet signed is already an unexpected/unwanted expense. I couldn't see anything on the paperwork to suggest this is going to be an issue, but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had problems with this. I'd hate to turn up at the airport after a 10hr flight and be told that they won't sign my form because my sponsor isn't with me or whatever. Ultimately, I'm only going to be staying in the country for a couple of days, before returning back to the uk to prepare for the actual move in the summer.

Secondly, what's the procedure for getting it signed? Do I just roll up at YVR, get to immigration, and ask to see someone about getting my PR card? Do I need to make an appointment? How long does the process take from arrival to getting out of the airport?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ok so now I'm really confused...just received a email asking for 'fully completed travel history - IMM5562 form found on page 6 of the following link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3901e.pdf.

But then right on the checklist included in the link it says 'persons submitting their application to the Canadian visa office in Paris must complete the attached IMM 5562 form Supplementary Information-Your TravelsTravels...which is why we didn't include it..as we are not applying through Paris!? Did everyone else include this and I just misunderstood this (one of many) confusing forms??.......well on the bright side, at least they have opened my our file..

Oh yes don't worry about it. It has been requested because you may have travelled abroad a few times. It does not indicate any problem with your application at all. It's simply just to track where you've been and for how long. Just send it into them asap You are 'in process' so all is good!
Also, if you're like me and have travelled many places, and run out of space in the boxes - add the extra information by typing it up on a another sheet. Clearly marking it by question number and indicating that it is supplementary information to the question.

It's not bad news at least! Judging from the timelines of applicants on here, London is now dealing with applications that they have received in August, so your application is probably still in a pile waiting to be seen (as is mine!). London really seem to be picking up the pace though, so I imagine that you'll be up soon. The waiting sucks though.

Correct me if I am wrong. I just read in another forum (which this person also heard from another) that if your status is change to -in process before an interview, this means you are exempt in the interview part.

Any of you with experience know about this?

From what I have seen from other peoples experiences I think this is correct, however CIC can call you for an interview at any time, if they feel that it is necessary to do so.

Having no luck what so ever logging in today. I presume they have something going on with their site.

I can imagine! It's one of the coldest days here with frostbite warnings so I doubt the post people are even working here (Ottawa) today!
