Hi- That's terrible and more than a little unprofessional- I'm also fairly certain that it is incorrect.
I can't help that the 'lucky' comments was a thoughtless (or vindicative) aside rather than any real indicator but if you document any medical issues than you will be ready for any queries that might arise.
I second that - I really don't think that it was professional from your DMP to tell you that, and certainly doesn't help you to wait calmly to hear from CIC - as if the immigration process was not already stressful...
Good luck,
Sweden

Happy New Year everyone!

Here's to hoping that 2013 is a fast year for PR approvals...!

Random question - In the spreadsheet, did heading "B" get changed from 'Application Sent to Mississauga' to 'Medicals Done' or was it always like that?
Sorry - my mistake! the headings indeed were deleted and I wrote back, but got it wrong :-( you would think that after spending hours looking at the spreadsheet I should know what's in it, but it seems like it's not the case ! :) thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks for all the replies :D It threw me at the time and has thrown me ever since. I wouldn't mind if processing times were back in the 3 month time frame rather than the 6-8 as I would be a lot quicker to know what I need to do. Of course my partner thinks I worry too much.

Sweden - Do you have a link to the part about demand I could put on the health service in the future? That seemed to be his main point - speculation over what I could have/get in the future as I don't have or have never had anything that would bring me anywhere near the $5000 mark. Is that not the same as excessive demand exempt?

Sweden - What do you mean by the demand I could put on the health service in the future? He mentioned that twice as I don't have or have never had anything that would bring me anywhere near the $5000 mark. Is that not the same as excessive demand exempt?
It's from CIC website, here is their own wording

To protect the health and safety of Canadians, as well as reduce and prevent excessive demand on Canada's health and social services system, permanent or temporary resident applicants may be required to undergo a medical exam.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/index.asp

So as long as you're not contagious (their first point), or your medical bills are not excessive ( and it seems that it's not, and you seem to have a pretty good idea of what you need), then it should be fine. If anything, they might ask for another medical exam, but I am not sure, as you're applying through the spousal sponsorship, not skilled worker scheme etc.

Hopefully you'll hear from them around the 4 months mark (seems to be the case for quite a few applicants if you look at the spreadsheet from the moment the sponsorship is approved to the moment a decision is made).

Good luck,
Sweden

Thanks Sweden :) I believe I am exempt from excessive demand and therefore just the danger to the public clause is relevant. Yet irrelevant in my case unless I have something that is a serious communicable condition. I know I don't have syphilis or HIV as I got my blood test results sent to me.

(3) Some groups of permanent resident applicants are exempt from the excessive demands assessment:

family class sponsored spouses, common-law partners and dependent children

Haha no worries, thanks Sweden - I swear I spend more time looking at that spreadsheet and on this forum than I do on Facebook!! I am just number crunching obsessive at the moment trying to guesstimate a time that I MIGHT hear something back - Hubby keeps telling me it will get here when it gets here, think we need to meet somewhere in the middle with our worrying!
Thanks for so diligently looking after the spreadsheet!

Hi guys!

Just getting my documents ready and need to get this application sent of ASAP!!!

The medical is soooooooooo expensive! ahhhh.

I am a doctor myself and can probs get the x-rays and blood tests done at my own hospital...do you think the GP's doing the medical will accept this?

I hate this process :(

yea you are right but I dont think they will accept as they have designated medical practitioners for medical.

I second this! They are expensive it cost us all in £500 for both mine and my daughters medical. £80 for an x-ray and I am not even allowed to see it....lol

I wish we could have access to our medical reports though we pay high charges for it.

I ended up getting my medical done whilst in Canada shortly after getting married - much cheaper there than it is in the UK. It was a little under $200 to get it done in Canada versus the £250 ($400!) they were charging in the UK!

My medical was $135 in Canada (TO) the first pace I went to tried to charge $250 but I walked out because they were dicking me around. You can find something reasonable, but it does take a lot of time - I called almost every Dr on the spreadsheet!

Sorry - that won't work! I had asked about that option ( I'm not a doctor but worked in the medical field for a while and quite a few of my friends were willing to do the exams for me ) - you have to go to a Panel Physician on the list... and they usually have an agreement with one specific X-ray and analysis center that they work with...
Calling around to see the different prices might be an option if there are more Panel Physicians around (there was only 1 in my area, and traveling 600km to find another one didn't seem like a good plan!).
Good luck,
Sweden
