Hey!

the main goal of the interview is usually to determine if you have a genuine relationship - and it's always for the person applying for the PR - so the "principal applicant", your wife is not an applicant, she is the sponsor. She can choose to attend the interview ( especially if she is in the UK with you) but she doesn't have to.
To prepare, just gather everything that you have as communication proofs between your wife and yourself. Skype, emails ( don't need to print all the emails, but a good way would be to do a screen print of all the emails with dates etc, and maybe print out a few that are significant to your relationship), calling history if through phone. If your wife came to visit you between the moment that you filed the application and now, then bring the proofs (plane ticket, boarding pass, etc) of that as well. If you purchased anything together for your future place in Canada, bring that - one person also suggested that your wife could take a life insurance ( you can usually find some quite cheap ones) with you as the principal beneficiary, and bring that as a proof as well. Here is a list ( from 2008, but I could not find a more update one, there might be one somewhere on the thread) of the type of questions that you might be asked, just to prepare yourself.
Good luck! when is the interview?
Sweden
Thanks for the advice Sweden. It will be a bit difficult if not impossible for me to provide proof of communication in form of emails, skype ..etc simply because we live together. I am assuming that should be a big proof itself. We could take photos of trips we've had together since we applied I guess, but otherwise my wife (sponsor) lives with me here in the UK, and was sponsored by me to live here. So you think its a good idea if she goes with me to the interview although they didn't ask her to come?

Second thing is that they did not necessarily ask for my passport; just two different forms of ID. Does that mean they won't make a decision the day of the interview? I just thought it would be reasonable for them to finish all on my interview date since this whole process has been taking ages!

Last question, some asked for my timeline, how do I add it under my username here?

Thanks once again!

@ Bonitanita congrats! Finally they have located your file. I think you also need to get a police report from Canada if you have been here for 6mths or more. I do not have much info on this, so pls confirm.

@ Grizzly how long has your spouse being with you in UK with you or how long have you been in the relationship? Did you inform CIC that she was living with you when you filed in? All the best!

You do NOT require any police checks from Canada, they can do all the background check themselves.

Me and you might be in a similar situation, as me and my wife both live together in London and we even work together as Teachers. She got sponsored by her workplace and her work Visa last 3 years but we have been living together for about a year now.

Good to know this as I might be heading in your direction, and If I can bring my wife to the interview swell that be great

Oh really? I believe I saw on the application for sponsorship that you need to provide a police report from any country you have lived in for 6mths or more. Also I read on other thread that they ask for FBI or RCMP report for the applicant. Like I said am not an expert just by 2cent as not to delay Bonita's case any further.

Yes you need a Police report for every single country EXCEPT for Canada. CIC has full access to all Police records within their own country. Every other country you have lived longer than 6 months will require a police record.

If you live together, that's much better indeed! just take the proofs that you are still living together, that you sponsored her to stay in the UK, and some pictures about the trips you've taken together, and you'll be fine. If your wife can come, it might be a good idea... she might not be allowed in the interview room, but she can show her support by being here. Bring your passport - they might ask you to leave it at the reception to issue the visa after the interview! I hope so for you... some VO do, but I am not sure about London.... they might be able to tell you that they are convinced or satisfied after the interview, in that case you will know that the visa will be issued but maybe they need to finalize a few other things? not sure.

For your timeline - you need to post 10 times before you can post anything, once you have posted 10 times, you can go to the upper right corner into "profile" and modify it there.
Good luck!

Hopefully the only reason why they are not answering is because they are ready to issue your visa anyway and can not be bothered to answer to a case that they consider finalized (not that I think it's a good idea, but just an possibility) - it was my case... they never answered to me, and suddenly it just stated "decision made" - no answers to CSE, and no "in process".
Fingers crossed you'll hear soon,
Sweden

Hi there!

Just adding myself into the pile here.

I'm being sponsored by my wife, who's a Canadian citizen born in Nova Scotia. I'm from Scotland, which is where my wife and I have been living together for the past 4 years. We've been together for 7 years in total, and have been married for 3 years now. We got married in Scotland, on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.

Our application was received in Mississauga on the 19th of October and my wife was approved as a sponsor on the 13th of November. I'm 25, and she's 30. We decided to move away from the UK so that we could be closer to her family, and because the climate for business is better here (I've been managing bars and restaurants for 5 years now, and want to get my own off the ground which is hard in Scotland just now).

I'm hoping the process will be fast as we've been married for a good amount of time, have no dependants, no criminal records, no history of government financial support, and because we're both still fairly young. Also hoping the fact that my wife was granted a visa to join me in the UK as my partner in 2008, will help point to the fact that our relationship is solid and ongoing.

Anyway, there's my info. Best of luck to everyone.

DGT

Hi,
They sent an email with the details of the interview (i.e. date, time, and documents required). It also asks to reply to another email to confirm attendance. I don't think you get to choose the date; if you can't make it to the specified date then they might issue a different one. I received the email two days ago and my interview is on the January 31st.

Good luck

We have been married for over a year, and we have been in a relationship for about two years. We did specify that she is living with me here in all applications.

Thanks
