Sorry to hear that @SwedentoQuebec Stay strogn and try to work things out it is such annoying waiting game.

It does seem they are requesting extra information from people but does this mean were one step closer to getting a PR? I had my medical requsted and quickly got it done and it got sent to the CIC in London yesterday....

I'm hoping good news soon as me and my wife are flying to Canada at the end of the month and then were going to JA to have our wedding ceremony so both our families can attend to celebrate our marriage

Bad news guys, I still can't believe it but my boyfriend broke it off, this whole process was too much and me being depressed and sad (because of the stressful situation this puts you in) did it for him so yeah I haven't got my answer yet but CIC won this one... One less Canadian+non Canadian couple :( so my practical question is how do I contact CIC to withdraw my application and do I get a refund if my case is 'in process'??! I payed all of the fees so I want them back kind of...omg this is so surreal :(
Sorry to hear that.

My husband's COPR has arrived in the mail. We're in Canada and we actually had to sign for it at the door (I've heard that normally you don't when it's delivered in Canada). They extended the medical slightly from August 21st to September 10th. I must say, it's not a very inspiring document - my husband got the camera ready and opened the envelope carefully only to reveal a boring piece of crumpled white paper with a bar-code. lol.

We're going to land at the North Dakota border this weekend or early next week. I honestly haven't looked much into the process - I've been dealing with so many other things lately. I assume it's a fairly straightforward affair. Do we need to bring anything besides our passports and the COPR itself? I'll be accompanying him of course. We're not transporting any more goods into the country - we took everything we needed when we travelled in June.

Oh my god! I'm so sorry to hear this! :( CIC really has no idea what couples has to go through during the application process. It's not easy and they make it even harder with all these strikes and everything. :(

It's a very easy process : bring COPR and passport, and it should be enough. On CIC website they also advise to bring a copy of marriage certificate but I doubt you would be asked for it. Some applicants have been asked for something proving their address in Canada, but again - that's not very common, and definitely not a requirement. Happy landing!

Hi all,

I'm landing on Tuesday the 9th, finally! Does anyone know what I need to declare on my form B4, i'm literally just coming through with clothes, a laptop (which although once expensive is now falling apart), a phone, a portable hardrive and a few crappy litte electronic devices, like a little speaker for my iphone, some headphones and an Apple airport express thing. I also have three pictures from Nepal that i have no idea of the value of, probably $20 each or something. Oh and oddly some salt and pepper shakers! Do I need to declare all this?

Thanks

Rebecca
Hey Rebecca,

You probably don't need to fill out a B4. But to be on the safe side, just prepare one with the few items, and have it ready. If they don't ask for it, just don't mention, it will save you time... it's mostly intended for people bringing their whole life in the country, and having some boxes being shipped later etc... if you only come through with stuff that would get you through customs as a tourist, then you probably don't need a B4.

Welcome to Canada (soon!),
Sweden

Well, I have been "in process" since 15th April and has nearly been 3 months.

I sent them another email asking what part of my application is holding the process up and I am awaiting a response.

It really is a soul destroying feeling with the constant waiting and without reading all your comments, it would be a lonely one too.

Eugh. Time to bake (again).

I think you summed up the entire thread with this comment.

I have just extended my work permit here in Canada for another two years because my first permit ran out (PNP Skilled Immigrant)
But it seems to be futile given that it's a temporary fix to what we're all trying to achieve.

Keep Baking! I think it soothes the mind. At least you know that you have control of what is happening when you bake, unlike anything that passes through the CIC's empty heads.

I was home last year for a few months waiting for my Nomination and I baked every day. I found this great blueberry sweet dough bread recipe that Jamie Oliver did while he was doing a series of shows in Scandinavia, It was beautiful!

David (also. But from Wales)

Yes, indeed!

Baking has been a fun way to pass the time - I tend to go through phases of baking and I am just coming out of a doughnut phase. At the peak of my pastry phase, I was making pastries twice a day for 2 weeks. I am pleased those days are well and truly behind me.

Tonight, carrot cake.

Welsh David, Jamie Oliver is amazing! As is Nigella Lawson. Her vocabulary does things to me I cannot explain.

I miss Nigella like she's a beloved Aunt. I think she is the reason some men turned to baking. And I love Jamie too! though not in the same capacity ::)

Don't worry, this appears to be relatively normal. We received no requests for extra documents and our status didn't change from "Application Received" until the day before we got "Decision Made." Basically our status didn't change on ECAS for 7 straight months, and the only update we got was in late May because we asked for one. Most people before and just after us on the spreadsheet had gone "In Process" one or two months before us.
I know. I take some (but not much!) comfort in how comprehensive and diligent we were filling out the forms and submitting the documents.

SwedentoQuebec - I'm sorry to hear the bad news :( It's a very stressful situation and I hope things work out for you x

Thank you guys for the support, i am obviously devestated and I wish I could have known what my life would turn into during this whole process before. But it is what it is. This forum certainly kept me sane, I just hope my ex boyfriend could have had some more will to fight for us.
