Actually, bank holidays are variable depending on the Home Nation. Scotland has 9 bank holidays.

I thought you guys didn't consider yourselves a part of the UK? :p

But yeah, I meant England rather than the UK as a whole.

We sure don't when people continue to mistake The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for England. Like the VO my wife had when she was applying for her British visa. The VO had the cheek to say English law (wrong on 2 counts A: Scotland has a very different legal system. B: Immigration is a reserved matter meaning that law is handled by Westminster), on our application and continuously referring to our living in England (which I've never done). It was kind of sad that I, a bartender had to send a letter to a member of the UKBA explaining what the definition of the UK has been since the Acts of Union of 1603 and 1707. :o

On a serious note, current polling information suggests that the majority of Scots wish to continue being a part of the UK. So be nice! Don't forget us! Or we will secede after all!

Some more interesting trivia on the Union!

If you look at the Royal Crest on the front of your UK (or Canadian) passport, you'll see a Lion, and a Unicorn. The lion represents England, and the unicorn is Scotland. You'll also notice that the unicorn is chained, because in mythology a wild unicorn is a dangerous beast and a chained unicorn is a valuable ally. A very interesting historical analogy. :)

Well there you go, I've learned many things today!

Didn't mean to offend anyone with my generalizing of the UK! I'll be honest, I don't get out much and anything north of the M4 is just 'Northern Territory' to me!

And I never go south of the Clyde. And I lived right beside it! Hehe. It's funny how distant and fragmented communities are on such a tiny little island, when you go somewhere huge like Canada that manages to maintain a national identity over 6000 miles from coast to coast!

I was just winding you up by the way. Absolutely no offence was taken. We're used to it. At least we don't get ignored as much as the Welsh!

Say what now? Haha.

Everyone forgets about the glorious principality of Wales! Which is a shame that given being under political influence from England for almost 1000 years, Wales has down better at maintaining it's own national identity than any of the other Home Nations!

Rwy'n caru Cymru!

Welsh people kind of enjoy flying under the radar! We're kind of like a very subtle version of North Korea ... just without any of the craziness. Just sheep. :p

That sir, is the greatest comparison I've ever heard. Made me lol.

Hi Dakar. I would wait for further instruction on both matters. If they are satisfied with the application as a whole and are happy with it, they will apply to extend the validity of the medical and police certificates. It certainly would not hurt to contact them and ask about it though. I hope that you are near the end of your process!

Ah Family Day. Because there aren't enough bloody bank holidays for the 9 to 5ers. :p
Ah, the recriminations of a grumpy service worker. Lovely. For the sake of trivia by the way, Family Day is a provincial holiday in Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Alberta. But it isn't a Federal holiday so the CIC should still be working away! Huzzah.

Family Day in BC was last monday, and it's apparently the first year it happens... not that it matters to me anyway as I'm still looking for a job! grrrr....

So happy to know things are moving along! Good Luck everybody!

so happy :D,

Lakwa

Good to see some movements, congrats!
I still can't edit the spreadsheet, I have asked the owner again to add me and a couple of others, and will let you know when I have access to it.
Hopefully I can put a date in the "decision made" category for you at the same time! :-)
