Wow is it ok to do that? I didn't think that would be their responsibility!

My MP's assistant was super helpful when I was worried about not getting my co-op work permit on time recently, and made a couple of inquiries for me. I live in Canada though, but shooting them an email about your situation can't hurt.

it's definitely okay to do that and it is definitely within their scope of responsibility - whether they are able to find anything out beyond what you know yourself is another question! that would be down to CIC. but yes, you can definitely ask them to get involved and look into it on your behalf.

I'm not sure what to do either. I'm still waiting for my COPR and they haven't responded to my enquiry. Is it possible to ring either the call centre? or LVO?
Mine is being posted to me in the UK.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

alright, so thanks to our COPR, i now have confirmation that our first DM was a mistake. our actual DM happened on December 22, ECAS updated on December 25, and we had COPR in hand on January 9. funny how quickly it came considering there were 3 stat holidays during that time.

Just had a call from my parents in England saying that there has been a signed for letter for me today. They missed it, but have got it scheduled for redelivery on Thursday...given that I get no post there, it is probably my COPR.....fingers crossed!

i'm sure you can contact them directly through email.. explain that you are the person being sponsored by a Canadian spouse in their constituency, give your husband's details and contact info just to cross all the i's and dot all the t's, and explain that your COPR has taken an inordinately long time to arrive and could they look into it for you? at the worst, they will respond that they need to hear from your husband instead, and you can just copy and paste the original email into his email account

I used my Mp lots of times through this process, so did Andrew_Brit . Its ok do ask them . Sometimes they were helpful others they didn't know any more than what i knew.

Thanks guys, I have emailed him.

It's just so shocking that even an urgent email to LVO does not get a response even though in the auto reply the promise to within 24 - 48 hours.

Thanks everyone for your advice.

I can't stop the tears from flowing, I'm so stressed out about it. I think being apart from hubby for over 2 years is finally taking it's toll. I felt we were within touching distance of being fully reunited and now this.... I'll try and find out who the MP is for NS and email them.

Baeverdiva, i totally understand where you are coming from. It took 20 months for my husbands application. In that time both my parents passed away . They were both in the U.K. and my husband and i was stuck here in Canada. When we first applied the timing was about 6 months . Many times i thought of just packing it all in and moving back to Wales. Got to admit i am so happy we stuck it out and he came here.

Take a deep breath and think how lucky we are that we have found that special person in our lives that we can live our life with . Its going to be ok.

Thanks Taffy. I followed your story along with Andrew-Brit's and I know you had such a rough ride through the process.

You've helped me so much with your words of encouragement, it's just what I needed to help keep me focussed. (My friends don't fully understand just how hard it is to be apart from him)

I've sent LVO another email marked 'urgent' this time. I doubt it will make a jot of difference but hey-ho. I'll email the MP tomorrow once my headache's subsided.

i'm actually on my way over to Scotland tomorrow to visit my husband for 2 weeks.. he won't be landing until May, but it's really nice that when i leave this time, we will know exactly when we will be seeing each other again - and every day after that!
