So you were in process for 8 days then they asked you to do another medical exam.

Recently LVO has been asking applicants where they have visited/lived since their medical, perhaps they only do that if the applicant is in Canada at the time. Interesting to see if they extend mine or ask me where I have been since applying (to determine if I need to redo) or just ask me to redo directly.

Well after 14 + months I checked ECAS an hour ago ( I easily check it 20 times a day) and I finally have decision made :) doesn't seem real and I think it's going to take a while to sink in! Can't believe it's finally done. Now to wait for the COPR paperwork!
Oh my goodness!!! I'm so happy for you and did a little happy dance. It's an odd feeling isn't it, it took a week to sink in for me... and I'm still not believing it. Let's hope we all get our paperwork soon x

(Andrew I congratulated you over on Britishexpats... but congrats here too ;-) )

Guys guys guys my PR application is in process!

I check ECAS every day so some time in the last 12 hours it has been updated. I know from ordering notes that my application arrived at LVO on November 11th 2014. The ECAS line reads:

So my thinking that London is backdating in process dates to when they received applications seems to be spot on.

I am so happy! Checking ECAS for nearly a year now and to see something different is amazing. Now I wait...
Yeyyyyyyy happy for you Andrew now you in process. Fingers crossed you and all the others in process will be getting decision made updates soon. Great to see LVO still moving.

Hi all,

I would really appreciate some advice from people from the UK who have received PR Canadian Visa.

My fiancée is Canadian, I am from UK. We have lived here together for the last 4 years. Now we think it's time to go there to start a life!

My Common-Law spouse application was received on August 5th, along with my police certificate and health certificate. It has been looked over by a lawyer and told all good!

Does it really take 30 days + 24 months to hear a decision? I was sure it would take more like 8 months. How long did it take others to hear?

I sent it to Mississauga, would it be sent back to the UK office or remain there for the checks?

Also, what is this spreadsheet? :)

Thank you so much everyone!

For sponsor approval, it takes approximately 56-60 days as per CIC. Once the sponsor is approved, the application will be sent to London, UK.

The second stage of the application will take approximately 8-12 months based on current timelines.

Thanks Warzo! So hopefully before this time next year? That'd be great.

I did get very worried with it said 24 months London office process time on the CIC website.

The average went up earlier this year because of the backlog they cleaned for Pakistan. Current average is between 8-12 months. Hopefully by this time next year, you will have your COPR assuming no other changes will impact timelines.

Yes, hopefully because I included medical cert etc. right away and without their prompt that should save a little time. Do you work in the London office?

One more question - my fiancée is itching to move back. I can't handle long distance, so if she decides to move back earlier is there any way that I could go over and work while PR decision is pending? I mean, is there a short term working visa that would be simple enough to acquire?

Thanks again!

Nope not for those who applied "outland". You can come as a visitor, but you won't be granted permission to work in Canada.

Including everything upfront is recommended however many do, me included, and I am still waiting nearly a year with probably another 1-2 months to go.

I assume you are British, if so there is the International Experience Canada (IEC), an agreement between Canada and the UK. Every year they allow 5,500 UK citizens between 18-30 to get an open work permit. Full details can be found here. Note that this scheme is closed for this year as all spots were filled up. It is very hard to get a visa this way, this year all spots went in a matter of minutes.

There is nothing stopping you entering Canada as a visitor during the processing of your application but you will be unable to work.
