So my sponsor called CIC just now and they said they haven't even opened my package yet. That if we haven't seen online that they have opened it in the next couple days (which there is no way we can because he has no client ID) to call back because they are working on apps around our time. Been 101 days since sent/97 since received. Most of June is already completed - Even PPRs.... such BS. :\
PPR is not for the US...they are only in February for PPRs...And yes it's frustrating to see all the New-Delhi and other VO's getting their PPRs oh trust me I stopped coming on the site for a bit because I was so frustrated!

*nod* Yeah, but I guess it's knowing that they wouldn't have made it to that step if they hadn't cleared the first step in Canada with all the rest of us waiting.

By the way, I saw you mention Step 2 is the easier one? I thought it was vice versa, which leads to my distress. Thinking if this is the easy, quick part, that I'm boned.

I find the wait is a lot easier for Step 2 than it was for Step 1! We know they have our files after Step 1 and we have confirmation of it...there is nothing else we can do about it but wait and check ECAS everyday..it gets easier!

I sent my application in to CPC-Mississauga on August 20, received a UPS delivery notification on August 22.

My wife is an American citizen, 24. I'm 30 and a Canadian citizen
Meds done a couple months ago (don't have the exact date here)

How long does it take for them to begin step 1? When do I get a case number?

We've all been through the emotion you are going through! Heck anybody who says that this doesn't affect your personal life is crazy! The tension and stress could be cut with a knife! It's not easy at all but I think that after going through this we can surmount everything else that is thrown at us!

You'll get a case number in about roughly 3 months if everything goes smoothly not only for you, but all the people waiting ahead of you. After they open your file and start the process, you should get an UCI.
Time hasn't really changed on the CIC site. So expect the end of November/ beginning of December.

Definitely. Unfortunately as I've also read, and now experienced... the stress and tension that is created between your partner and yourself is freaking horrible because of the financial strain it creates, the boredom of someone on a visitor stay waiting, and the family tension of wanting to do things but can't because of CIC. It has created a bit of an argument at some moments. Understandable, but undesired.

I'm just happy to hear others who have been there as well... hate they been through it, but happy that I'm not alone and this isn't some big thing that shouldn't be happening with us or with myself.

It's not...my husband went back to the states for over a month to ease the tension as he could not work and other issues but i believe it's normal and it only makes us stronger and it just means that we are genuine!

The tension between my husband and I lies in the amount of travel. We live about 7 hours apart (Duluth, MN to Winnipeg), so it's reasonable for me to live in the states and we just deal with the separation between visits. We both understand that we have it far better than most on this site, in that we can see each other every one to two weeks, but even that's hard sometimes, and the driving is starting to wear on us (and our cars!).

You're not alone. None of us are. It still stinks though :p

*high five* Winnipeg-Minnesota couples =)
My husband is from a town just outside of Minneapolis, and I live in Winnipeg.

I second the posters that have mentioned the stress it put on a relationship. For the person who can't work - it's degrading having to ask for money for this that and the other, you feel as though you can only ask for necessities, and then feel like a bloody kept woman.

My o'h family keep saying "whats taking so long I thought it was only going to take X amount of months" like they think I'm stalling somehow because I enjoy living without having to work. (which has it's benefits on occassions ;) )

But seriously we know this won't break us, but every now and again tempers can flare through pure frustration on both sides - it's totally normal x
