Jen85, your good news will follow soon. Do you have an action plan ready to follow as soon as you get the news? I've been working on this... you know, to confirm with the shipping, book the flights, tell work, childcare, list of things to sell vs pack etc. It's been satisfying the control freak inside especially considering there ain't much control over what our immigration office are doing right now.

Nice to see you back. I hope you are right that we will hear something soon as I am getting seriously depressed! Do you know that feeling when in school, people are picking sport teams and you are the last to be chosen, or at a school dance when you are left sitting by yourself while everyone else has partnered up and are dancing...kind of how I feel now. Five people from London had their PPR's on Monday and they all applied after us. Absolute sinking feeling. Very happy for them but sickening feeling for us. If I knew why or what was wrong, maybe I could fix it or understand it. I know I am not the only one in this position and I have seen London people waiting from Sept and Oct thinking, oh I hope we don't get left behind...but we are. Lots of others have to wait a long time but still doesn't make me feel any better at the moment. Yes, we have been sorting house, getting quotes for movers, poised to make an offer on a house, checking out companies to ship our dog over etc etc.
On a happy note, my partner's daughter gave birth yesterday to his second grandchild, first granddaughter. A whopping 9lbs 2oz! Both doing well so we will be visiting them later today. At least that will get me away from the pc for a few hours and something else to focus on!

I got my CAIPS notes from CaipsNotes.com. It's $30, takes about 5 weeks. You can do it all electronically, except for the consent form, which you must print out, have you and your sponsor sign, and fax/email to them. They give you a progress indicator (mine is a 75%) of how close your CAIPS order is to being done. They can email it to you as soon as they receive it from Ottawa.

hello everyone,

first off congrats to all of you that has progressed further.. sencondly, i just got off with the immigration consultant who was helping with our file.. she's also a family friend and i keep in touch with her..

she told me that there are some insane things going on in our visa office.. also something that she suggested was for my husband to go to the embassy and ask them where he can get his educational qualifications assesed.. she said that if they know that he's getting ready with little things like that, it does make a difference even in a small way..

also to have him ready to leave in june 2011. his medicals will expire at that point and our embassy has a nasty habit of giving the visa a few days before the meds expire... go figure right! once PPR is done, the visa is almost instant so yeah..

either way i spoke to him and i am planning on making a trip to see him in june to celebrate our one year anni booking my return flight for the 27th considering his meds expire on the 30th..

this is all a long way off, but it's my new happy place! god knows we all need one!

anyways wanted to give u guys an update as u are my support system

Hello there, i hope you enlighten me about my case, im a FSW 2009. Applied my husband December 2010 Passport request March 1, 2011 im just wondering do i need to pay the 490CAD RPRF? since my husband had PPR already? i paid only 550CAD for the initial spousal sponsorship, do they still request me to pay 490CAD since PPR already? the letter states that only submit form A and PPR. im getting confused. some told me it slows down the process and PPR is first requested before RPRF, some says no coz im a sponsor landed immigrant. HELP please.

The light shed is very minimal.. lol.. I honestly don't know how to deal with this anymore DKA!! it's like going thru the motions but we both feel confused. did u know that some of the employees HIDE files in our VO???

I know, SHOCKING!

Either way, we changed our countdown around a bit.. now the countdown is for me to get there and hubby has promised a family free vacation! no inlaws or cousins or anything.. just me and him on a beach with a beer..

Updated table below, as usual please let me know if I made any boo-boos. Congrats to those received their PPR recently, that must be really exciting! I know it's tough waiting (I feel it too). Here's a yogi quote 'Comparison destroys you', ah so true, even though it's very useful as a reference point to check our progress against others there is so much out of our control that doesn't make sense now... bit in the big picture in years to come it will.

I also added an initial assessment column, to indicate where a letter had been given. As pointed out, not all offices do this but I just thought I'd capture it anyway as it might be helpful for people who submitted their application in more recent months (no doubt tracking us - hello!) to get more of a vague sense of what is to follow.

(I'm using the dates that are on the letters).

AOR - Acknowledgement of Receipt – the first official document that says the application for permanent residence status has been received.
PPR – Passport request – Immigration requests passport when they are ready to issue the visa.
DM - Decision made (waiting on letter to confirm)

hello!

I've got my AOR last October 12, 2010. I paid my landing fee and it shows that they already withdraw the money. Its been 5 months already and I have not received any news from Canadian Embassy in Manila.

Should I call them and ask for the update of the status of my application for Permanent Residency under SINP Family Category?
