Thanks for your great advice! Normally how much $ should I get for the prepaid envelope? Is the FBI report just 1 piece of paper?

Also, I'm thinking it will be easier to pay by credit card, do they accept non-US issued credit cards (I guess visa will do the currency exchange?). Thanks again!!

The FBI report is a single sheet of paper, so you should pay for whatever size envelope is the smallest the service offers that can accommodate it. Yes, they will accept non-US issued credit cards, your bank will do the exchange when it receives the charge.

hi guys,

i got this letter from the vo on saturday to send my passport, does anybody know why i should send in my passport. on e-cas it says that it is "in process" and that the medicals are received. thats all, also on the letter it didn´t say much more just to send the passport. it worries me abit, does it mean they just want to check if the passport is valid, but i already sent in copies of passport and id. i don´t know...

mmh i´m worried ???

hope for some answers, thanks

Doesn't the letter say anything at all about meeting the requirements for PR? Normally, Berlin and other European offices requests the passport when they are ready to issue your visa, don't fret too much about the lack of a change on eCAS, submit your passport!

hi charlie,

no, letter didn´t say anything else, just the request for the passport. hope you´re right!

thank you very much for the quick respond

Thanks very much Charlie! ;) We went to get fingerprints done yesterday and quickly went to fedex. However, we found that in order to buy a prepaid envelope, we had to have a fedex account (which we didn't)! If we want to register for one, it will take 2-3 days to process! Finally after a mad-scramble, I got my sister (living in US) to register for one online and she was able to get it activated immediately. Thank god for the internet !!! And thank god for this forum! You guys are all so helpful !!

Hi guys,

I got another letter requesting me (the sponsor) to provide a Letter of Release to show my intention to move back to Canada. Have you guys heard of this? I'm not sure if this Letter of Release is specific to HK or other countries have a similar thing. It said to look at my local tax department for more information.

Turns out, here's what it is: I have to tell my employer at least 1 month before my departure date that I will be leaving the country for immigration (eg. resigning my job). Then my employer will withhold my last month's salary and submit some forms to the tax department. Then I have to go to the tax dept. to clear all my outstanding taxes. Then the tax department will issue a Letter of Release. I will give this Letter of Release to my employer, then they will "release" my last month's salary to me.

Here comes my problem.. I don't know whether my husband's application will be approved or not. Even if yes, when he will be approved? Then how would I know my expected departure date?! Then how can I tell my employer when I will be leaving? Or resign now and risk losing my job if in the end, my husband is not approved??! Even if i resign now, I can't tell my employer my expected date of departure (it might be 3, 6, 9 months from now?), then how the tax dept can give me a Letter of Release??

I'm really confused why VO asks for this right now (although I couldn't find any deadlines to submit this). I have tried to go to the consulate to ask in person but the officer at the door already stopped me and said I cannot ask any questions, I might write or email to them instead. But they will only reply if my case has exceeded their normal processing time (of 18 months!!). So basically, I'm stuck with no one to ask!!! :-[
