We mailed off our application yesterday! I am immigrating to Alberta from Houston to be with my Canadian born husband with two children from a previous marriage. I am as nervous as a cat and I am SO happy to have a group of people that I can whine to without shame! I hope we all get landed status in 6 months or less! Good luck!

It is so exciting to see so many others finally joining March. I wish I was as nervous as the cat.... mine flops over and sleeps! I wish I could do that to make this time go by quicker.

I dropped mine at the UPS store here, it was about 9 inches tall, and 15.5 pounds....Thank god that part is over, now onto the waiting for responses!!!

9 INCHES?! How much evidence did you send in and WHAT did you send in?? Ours was 3 inches and I thought I was crazy for sending in so much

we sent in our papers, yahoo and msn convos from almost 3 years, phone bills for almost 3 years, pictures from our trips back and forth and our wedding...we both figured that more was better to prove that we do talk and communicate on a daily basis...we may have some red face IOs in Buffalo that's for sure if they actually read some of the stuff!!

Sorry to butt in, but I just wanted to make sure you know that you can apply outland and still have your husband there with you. And in almost every case it is MUCH quicker (which will also get your husband working more quickly.) I applied outland through Buffalo and have been with my husband here in Canada for the entire process.

Does your husband have a really good job so he can support you while you can't work?
That is the only reason I am not there right now. I don't think we could make it financially if I wasn't able to work. It drives me crazy. I am a teacher and not being able to work would make me insane.
How do you get mail from Buffalo? Don't you have to keep a U.S. mailing address?

OMG, what a feeling.

We FINALLY mailed our package today for spousal sponsorship. What a f-in minor relief!

I guess the wait begins in a few days when they receive it!

I can't believe that we sent it out. This is a good feeling.

Just a question, after how long do you request FOSS notes? I know I am thinking way ahead but I just want to know when the appropriate time would be.

Hi there. I'm was born and raised in Utah, from the States. My husband has a good job, and is able to provide for us, but it's tight. We live pretty simply. We're both looking forward to when I will be able to help support our little family!

Although I am unable to be employed while I'm waiting here in Canada, I do keep busy by volunteering for a non-profit organization. It keeps me busy, helps me get to know some people in my new neighborhood, and hopefully it will give me a Canadian reference when it's time to apply for a paying job.

When you fill out your paperwork, you can give them your permanent address (your US address - I used my address at my parents home) and a mailing address. I gave them my Canadian address as my mailing address, so they send everything to me here. Plus, it gives us a little more evidence, as I am obviously here with my partner... which I might not be doing if our marriage weren't real. I've been careful to take the necessary steps to maintain my legal status here, and was just given a year long visitors record.

There isn't a part of this process that's easy. If you don't spend it with your partner, then you have to deal with uncertainty and missing your spouse. If you spend it with your partner, you have to deal with uncertainty and the emotional and financial implications of prolonged unemployment.

Dear quakingaspen! I understand your dilemma completely!

I desperately want to go live with my husband after school ends in May! It will be tight financially, but I am struggling to handle being separated from him. I am glad to know that you are living together. I am going up for the summer and honestly, I don't plan to come back to Houston.
I have known my husband for 26 years. We met when I was in high school and he was on a Mormon mission. It is our own little fairy tale story come true!
I can't wait to be with him forever.

Well, we just sent our package to Mississauga this afternoon and it should arrive there on Friday. I have to say it made me sick handing over that box to a stranger, if I lived closer I'd have just dropped it off (not possible from Alberta). I don't think I'll be able to sleep until I see it has arrived at its destination. My husband is in Indiana and it seemed to take forever to get everything together, but at least it gave us more evidence for our relationship. The box was about 5 inches deep and weighed close to five pounds. Now we wait. I can't help but worry that things aren't in the right order, or missing, even though I went over and over that checklist SO many times.

I am glad though, that the process is going to start and hopefully he will be here before our second anniversary (our first is fast approaching).

All of these REALLY heavy packets and tons of stuff are starting to frighten me. I didn't send EVERY conversation so now I am worried that I didn't send enough! This process is so vague and intimidating!!
You would think that Canada doesn't want us to be together, working and paying taxes.....

I guess we have to wait and see if I get requests for more documents.

Until I started reading these posts I was very confident.....now I am a basket case!
