Congrats Pink Lady.

Thanks so much :)
Sent my passport off last night to London. Hope it comes back soon!!

Hi everyone. I'm new here but I have been following this forum for a few days now. I'm really glad there is a forum like this one. I am being sponsored by my Canadian husband. We sent our application in early December and he was approved as my sponsor Jan 11th and our case was sent to buffalo. Could someone please advise what we should expect from here on? When do people normally get there AOR? I sent an email to the visa office and they told us that it would take 30 weeks for them to even start the process. But as I have been reading here, applicants are receiving their AOR after just a couple of months.

Hi Ellan. :) AOR's from Buffalo are taking about 2 months right now. No one in our December group has received one yet, but we're hoping to start seeing some at the end of this week or the start of next week. It sounds like your timeline is about the same as mine, as my husband was also approved on January 11th.

Thank you fo the reply. We'll just cross our fingers then and hope for a quick process. But it's weird that they would say 30 weeks to even start the progress....

Not really. What CIC does not want is 1,000,000 stressed, anxious, nervous people calling/e-mailing/contacting them every day. They'd have to double their staff just to deal with the customer support! What they're basically saying is... Don't call us, We'll call you. A significant number of people have completed the process in 30 weeks. So, if it's been 30 weeks and you haven't heard anything, then there might be a serious concern about why your application is taking so long... rather than Buffalo just being (normally) slow, and you (and all of us!) being anxious for news. It does NOT take them 30 weeks (usually) to start the process. They just generally don't want people contacting them.

Still waiting for an update.....

Guys I hope all of you are in good health. I just got an update from ecas.
And that is;

We received xxxxxxxs application for permanent residence on January 28, 2011.

We started processing xxxxxxxx's application on March 1, 2011.

Medical results have been received.

Congrats, narcotics! I'll add that update to our spreadsheet. :)

@ Ellan - eCAS is an information system provided by CIC so people can check the status of their applications. You will need your client number or your Receipt number (from the receipt when you paid your application fees - It starts with an R) as well as the last name, birth date and birth country of the person you're checking. Theoretically, you can check either the sposor or the applicant, but so far I've only been able to log in with the sponsors information.

You can find it here: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/?app=ecas&lang=en

Thank you! But I thought that they have to start the process first before we can see a status online.... Am I wrong?

Since your sponsorship has already been approved, you can log in to eCAS with the sponsors information and at least see that much. I'm not sure how it works after that, because that's as far as I've gotten. Perhaps some of the other members of the thread can help. From reading the FAQ's on that page, it seems that at some point you should be able to log in with the Applicants information to see the status of the application. I'm not sure if it shows updates on the sponsors page or not.
