YES mbastudies is for skilled worker but was kind enough since we are middle east people kind of add us to the list but done a great job divide us into categories in the same post mention family class or skilled where needed and put us all according to visa post by alphabatical order easy to track timeline so dont worry and join it is really nice to know some others timeline and especially our dear office damascus
cant wait for tomorrow to send an inquiry

I got my sponsorship approved late July 2010, My lawyer told me It will take no more than 3 months for the File to be finalized which apparently will turn out to be a big fat LIE

Got a question for u as well: Has the embassy called any of u guys(the sponsors) to check and see whether u r in Canada or not?

Do not be disappointed as I said before I had a friend who got the visa so so fast.... and as a PR holder she was in canada just for 3 weeks during the sponsorship procedure ( PR holders should be in Canada in the processing time).....
as I know in most cases they would not call ... Specially if you prove you are working or studying in Canada... but in some cases they will ask...for example another friend of mine got a mail in July from Damascus.... they wanted to now if she is in Canada and what is she doing...

Welcome IheartCanada, from the date of first approval you have between 1 month to 8 month maximum to finalize your case, however some cases are super fast and some are super slow which makes it unfair but that depends on the case and the officer looking at your case so take a deep breath and stay focus and be ready to update cic for any info theymay need and this way you will not cause any extra delay
as for calling from cic to verify your presence in canada yes sponsor should be in canada while sponsoring unless they can prove they will be in canada to stay after final approval for sponsorship, if there is not enough info on the file for your sponsor where they live, work, volunteer etc in canada including to rent, bank statements phone bills, income tax for the last few years on file therefore officer has to be satisfied and will make the call to question the home for sponsor, sometimes they will call place of work at odd times

Welcome to the forum.Do not worry about the timing.As my lawyer said because of many frauds in Damascus office,the processing times are completely changed comparing to 2009.He said in 2009 most of the files finalized in 3 months ,but in 2010 we are expecting at least 5-6 months.So I believe that all of us, are in the track of 6 months or maybe more.
Regarding your question, I'm a Canadian citizen so my presence in Canada during sponsorship is not necessary, but I live here and attend university here.In the case of PR until your first approval you have to be in Canada but when you received the first approval you can leave Canada, this is what my lawyer told me. Sometimes if your sponsor doesn't live in Canada, they will ask for some evidence to show that you will stay in Canada after the sponsorship approval.

my lawyer advised not to do this until end of the month
he is saying they should respond by august 30 if not he will send an inquiry
so i am waiting patiently for any update
what about you any further progress

Thank you for the information. I called my lawyer on Tuesday, he told me the processing time is really slow.He even said people who applied on January they still are in the queue. I don't know what should we do? They should consider we are apart from our love ones and its really hard.

Dear my iranian friends
i am also sponsored by my wife. Damascus started processing on 17th june. Once they asked for landing fee 3 weeks ago but still nothing changed
me and my wife were never apart more than 2 weeks. Now we are more than 6 months apart
she is crying almost everyday which makes me very very veryyyyyyy sad
we accepted both for fall entry to university of toronto. I am giving up ! I cant get there on time. She is also deciding to come back to iran and forget canada
i applied for student visa while admitted. They stated because of parallel applications we are not sure you will leave canada afteryour studies and they refused my application for study permit.

damascus started processing my application on june 16 and medicals have been recieved and on july 26 i recieved an e-mail requesting several documents including the payment for landing fee and they gave me 45 days to prepare and send them does anyone know what is the next step after i send the docs ?

i have been around this website for 1 month now its good to know ...if anyone has any questions to me dont hesitate to drop a message on this forum i will be happy to answer and i wish more patience its hard for me,us and for our spouses but always rememebr the light at the end is worth the pain .
