You've gotten a good deal on the tickets with Jet Airways, did you buy it through an agent or online?

This is a good sign, I have a good feeling your PPR is in the mail, you should have in few days!!! send the passport as soon as you get the PPR, and after they receive your PPR, I have a good feeling they will stamp it with the VISA in about 2 weeks... you are looking to have your passport with the VISA by end of May from what I can see!

Congrats once again!!!!

I heard they send the passport through the registered mail, so it should be given priority, unless IPS has no proper procedure in place for such type of mail. I know there are lazy postman, hence we give them few hundred rupees so they can provide exlusive service, also it has become a habit of many in india about the little bribe, you will find few who are very good at NOT taking anything, and just doing their job how it should be done. And there are those who EXPECTS something in return from PUBLIC as well as their monthly pay.

If our police is like that then what can we say about other people who take rishwat for little other things they do...

The only way india can be #1 is if we have an upright ruler, who is HONEST, and the whole system of BRIBE just disappear, else the poor will always lose!

I may sound harsh, but I don't mean to attack anyone personally, just saying what I have observed.

DNT2003
I dont know about other parts of India, but i had great experiences with the cop and the postwoman!!
When i applied for PCC, the cop came home to verify and i was so apprehensive coz i never know what is the right way to "bribe" and my mother was also just standing by!
He very sweetly came verified the address, said it was hot, so we offered something cold, he refused to take it and immediately sent the report to the regional Passport office! He just did his JOB, without expecting anything!
ANd the post-woman.. well she comes once in a day and delivers everything on time every time ;)
I think most often i do get angry with people who ask for bribes, but those are the times i walk out and say i am not paying up. the more u bribe people to do their job, the more u are encouraging it!

Hello Guys,

I will be sponsoring my spouse soon, 2nd week of May, just in the process of collecting all the required documents. I would appreciate all the advice you may provide us with. I have a couple of questions:

1. How many photographs of each ceremony should we include? Ours is a punjabi sikh wedding so I was unsure how many pictures of both sides should I send. I was thinking like 5-6 each of the Vatna, Chunni, Kurmai, and about 20-25 of the wedding itself.

2. The Sponsor questionnaire asks a lot of questions that we have included in a letter that explains our case. Ours is an arranged marriage. we have included a letter explaining our case since it sort of is clearer. What other supporting documents can we send? We have our emails 2 months prior to our wedding our wedding bills, pictures of our honeymoon, jewelry recepits, etc?

3. My spouse had applied for an immigrant visa to the usa and due to some lacking documents, his visa was not issued and his case was put under 221g (temporary denial). He changed his mind after since he wanted to stay in India and pursue his business further. Under background declaration, he was technically not denied a visa since he had his petition to immigrate cancelled. Should we just make a written explanation on a separate sheet? Im really worried about that part and we really want to tell them the truth cos if we don't, they might make it an issue cos his passport has a stamp in the back that says "us visa application received" and it has a stamp from the passport office saying that he had applied for a police clearance certificate for usa.

Help us guys.

@ parj...

send as many pics as u can....kurmai, roka ceremony, reception, ladies sangeet, gharoli, honeymoon pics etc...make sure that they are colored and clear. 2 per page would good, single sided.

for the sponsor questionaire, explain how the relationship was built (e.g. who introduced who, what date, day etc)...u can also explain this on a separate sheet of paper

for us visa, u only need to give the file number (if ur spouse had one)... u didnt had to write the whole scenario....they can ask for this later, if required

hope this helps

all the best and good luck

Thanks Gagan=)

For the photographs, are you suggesting that I attach 2 each on an A4 paper? should I identify the people in it too??

I think that a lot people don't give out their US Visa file number. I was told that just briefly explaining the scenario works.

Thanks Gagan=)

For the photographs, are you suggesting that I attach 2 each on an A4 paper? should I identify the people in it too??

I think that a lot people don't give out their US Visa file number. I was told that just briefly explaining the scenario works.
I think somewhere on the guide or the forms it said...Pictures must be loose, don't send binders, DVD's etc...
I just sent them in different envelops, dating, engagement, wedding, reception & honeymoon.
Inside it had the relevant documentation as well..flight tickets for honeymoon, receipt for hotel stays, wedding card, etc etc..
Everyone does their own thing and there is no right or wrong..but the more evidence you provide, saves you time in the run.

@ parj

for pics: 2 pics on a letter size paper, single sided. pics must be loose when submitting, no staples. have the pics arranged by the ceremony (roka, shagun, ladies sangeet, wedding day, reception, honeymoon) and take them to staples, tell them that u want 2 per page, colored, single sided and they will do it for u....for each occassion, i would suggest 40-50 pages (50 pages = 100 pics)....u dont have to identify the relationship/people in the picture....u can insert the occassion name in between....e.g. make 1 set for reception and insert a title page stating "RECEPTION PHOTOS" and so on.....the more the better....so by the end u will have around couple of hundread pics....

for us visa: i would suggest (rest is up to u)...to declare the number only...if u get in to explaining the scenario, it might get too complicated...remember...keep it simple, clean, focused and understandable....

additional things that u want to add in the file as supporting docs:
- copy of ur and family travel tickets to india
- copy of the visa from CGI india, if u r a canadian citizen
- photocopy of ur pp
- photocopy of ur spouse's pp
- photocopy of ur citizenshiip card
- original employment/job letter
- copy of t4
- copy of ur boarding passes
- copy of wedding cards
- copy of catering receipts
- copy of shoppping receipts (clothes, jewellery etc)
- copy of travel tickets if u went anywhere within india after ur marriage (via rail, air etc)
- courier receipts of the wedding cards (if cards were sent in to the other city)
- copy of banquet hall booking receipt
- copy of letter from Gurudwara registration
- copy of marriage registration certificate
- pics of places like Amritsar or to ur relatives
- copy of emails/communication proof (telephone bills, chat log etc)
- copy of pre/post marriage communication
- original PCC from police
- original receipt of medicals
- copy of newspaper cutting stating ur name change
- copy of bill for photographer
- copy of graduation certificates of ur spouse

no dvd's, binders ---- cpc mississauga will not accept it and will return the package

hope this helps

good luck in the process :)
