How much notice are we given before an interview?

I think they give about a months notice.. some members even got less than that

Technically, they cannot refuse visitor visa just because you have applied for pr. (I read about this somewhere in cic documents sometime) Practically, they would think - why does this person wanna go now while the pr application is in process, which in their opinion, doesnt take long to get finalized.

If you can convince them that you have a valid reason to visit canada early and are sure to return, they will issue visitor visa. You will definitely go back before PR application completes to submit your pp at nd, so u are good on returning part. work on the REASON and you will get visitor visa.

Yeah techinically you can, but have to provide a valid reason that you will leave. I do have a really good reason, but not sure if I would want to risk getting rejected. I should have applied for a visitors visa or a student visa, since I will be attending uni there.

Just curious, if u are in US and apply..
where will they send you a PPR ? and how do u plan to send the PP to India..
it is too risky to send by courier from outside India..
Hope u have a plan..

Yeah that's a good point you have there. I can't risk losing my passport again. The indian embassy here is horrible with issuing you a new passport. It takes forever. I applied for a renewal of my passport 6months ago, and I'm still waiting for it in the mail! (but that's a different topic).

My lawyer will take care of getting the passport part to india, I hope.
What's a PPR stand for? Lol sorry.

Yeah that's a good point you have there. I can't risk losing my passport again. The indian embassy here is horrible with issuing you a new passport. It takes forever. I applied for a renewal of my passport 6months ago, and I'm still waiting for it in the mail! (but that's a different topic).

PPR is passport request letter ...

Your lawyer wont be able to do anything in this case unless he is intending to visit india himself with your passport and passport carrying authority letter.. you will have to think accordingly.. What if u get interview??

Jas is right..if your lawyer is in India, it is again the same issue of sending the PP to India.
If your lawyer is in USA, again...can't courier the PP...

use your client id or application number
along with the combination of your surname or name which is mentioned on the letter you received from ND,date of birth and your nationality

If it does come down to an interview, then I will have to go to India. I have sent in a lot of evidence that my relationship is legit, so I would be surprised if I did get called in for an interview, but I'm prepared if there is that slight chance that I have an interview

The biggest screw-up which you can not imagine happening to yourself..

sending the PP to India somehow through someone or stuff..
ND will hold the PP and if they ask you to come to the interview..

You need to always expect the worst with a situation like this...be very very careful, it is too risky to live without a PP in any country.

Yes, they have called even the simplest of cases to be interviewed.

If your lawyer is in USA, again...can't courier the PP...

Thanks for the info. My lawyer lives in Canada, but has dealt with my family immigrating to Canada from the US in the past, so she's good.

Your lawyer is right by saying he has dealt with cases immigrating from US.
You technically would immigrate from India, so confirm how he plans to send the PP to india..
The PPR will come to the lawyer in Canada..how will the PP reach India is the question.

Doesn't matter how you send the PP to Delhi, how do you expect ND to send you the
PP back with Visa?

1. ND does not work by common sence, and if they find out that you live in US and your PP is in India..well, that is a complete different story of what can happen next.


First of all, i think you got everything all confused.

You can select processing office as US IF You have lived in US legally for more than 1 year...on a proper visa.
Having said this, it is completely CIC's decision to accept this request or send your File to ND as you are an Indian citizen.
Chances are they will send it to ND for processing.
