Hi queenanetor, use DHL it's faster than vfs. Also they don't do prepaid envelopes anymore. Have your husband send it to AVO. They'll give him a receipt with a tracking number you can check to see when it arrives at AVO. Once the visa is processed you will receive an email that says your passport is ready for pick up (anywhere from 12-21 days it appears). Have your husband go to DHL with this email. They will arrange for it to be picked up and brought either to that DHL office or to his house. He must pay for its delivery back to him.

Hope that's helps! :)

Congratulations, just use what ever mean is easier for you. VFS, DHL or any other courier service provider. They all have similar waiting period, maybe a say here and there.

Hi all. I just found this thread today. I am a Canadian who has submitted an application to sponsor my husband in January of this year. My husband's application was sent to Accra in February. We have had no update since March when his application "started processing". It is encouraging to find this forum as I was looking to connect to others who had applications sent to Ghana. We live in South Korea, and the fb group I am in for Canadians repatriating from Korea, where applications are sent to Manila, is quite different. Many are processed in a matter of months.

Welcome to the group! This group has been a mental support system for many applicants in AVO. January is around the corner and your processing time is 12 months so you will hear from them soon. Its surprising though that you haven't been asked for medicals like other 2017 applicants who applied around your time. All the same, its a different path for everyone so just keep being patient.

@Ugoswife - Thanks! Our situation might be a bit different, because I started the preparing the application early 2016 and spent a long time working on it, so when I found that the application kit changed and was being made simpler, I had to decide to start all over again or hurry up and submit with what I already had. So, I submitted before the deadline with the old package. We sent in the medical check, background checks and Schedule A with everything else. My husband had his medical check done in November, 2016. So I was thinking by the time it expires, they will request for a new one. However, after reading others' posts on here, I'm not sure if I should expect that anymore. Yes, trying to stay patient :)
