please I need clarification on the processing time...
when I checked it says 14 months including 47 days of sponsor assessment though my sponsor approval took 5 months which I Dont know why...
I emailed the MP of my city to help inquire about the delay to my application as its 9 months now since we applied in November 23, 2015 this is d email I received from her office that shocked me....
Applications go through a few steps:
First step is approval of the application. Your application was approved April 2016.
Second step is processing of the application. That takes approximately 14 months. That's the most recent time line quoted us from CIC when we called to inquire about your case. So that is how I got the June 2017 date.
When the application first arrived isn't taken into account, due to the huge backlog to intake the file and get it to the approval stage.
I know this is not the information you want to hear. But you are in the processing stage so things seem to be on track.
please can anyone interprete this for me,
thank you all as you do

One thing I have learned is contacting MP does not speed up applications and the response you get from them is something the applicant already knows. The 9 months estimate is from the day application was received, as you can see from the timeline of those who got their visas. I disagree with the response Samola received. The CIC call center people will not give the MP office specific info, and at worst the call center gives wrong information. Also note that AVO is very unpredictable, and that's why there is disparity in processing time on this thread. My advise, we should all continue to pray and wait.Ritzy5 said:I'm asking a question based on the responses Samola received. Does it mean Avo is no more processing on an average of 9 months. Secondly, doesn't the 9 month average count starts from month of which application was filled?

I wouldn't associate your good fortune to the fact that you contacted your MP. MPs have no influence on your application except in high profile 'abnormal or exceptional cases', and if an application is within CIC proceccing timeline, it is not deemed exceptional and that is why they send that generic e-mail to keep your expectation up to the CIC processing time. Congrats on your PPRDonda said:Don't worry. I had a similar response from my MP when I contacted them. I was advised to keep my expectations up to end of February 2017. But it was surprising we got the ppr request in a month's time. They don't get much information from CIC since they mostly contact the CIC office in Canada and not the visa office. Sometimes, when they call CIC, it sends a signal to the visa office to speed up the process. In your case, I guess the initial SA approval caused the delay. You will soon smile![]()
